It began on November 9th, 2010 and ended in a Goodie win in D3 (November 16th, 2010).
This was a small 7 Goodies vs 3 Baddies vs 1 Indy Mafia. The game featured 4 kills (3 regular + 1 delayed): the Baddie Night kill, a Goodie kill, an Indy kill and a kill by Insanity (which was triggered 2 nights after being driven insane).
- Order of actions: Block > Redirect > Save (arrest save of police man and insanity save) > Kill and Insanity infection > Spies
- Tie lynch: Host rolls a dice for either - one of them being lynched, both lynched, or neither.
- Night Kill can be blocked if the person carrying it is blocked.
- The police trap does not block, only save and take out of lynch the next day
- Roles cannot act on self. A killer cannot be redirected on himself.
- Insanity actions will be mentioned but not who the target was! The perpetrator will also be mentioned.
- Spies are not mentioned in the posts
- Dying from insanity prevents the action from that night if the action is kill or less in the order of actions (block, redirect, save go through).
Baddies: The Cultist of the Mythos. Win-Con is if Indies and goodies are dead. They get one kill a night.
- Cultist Leader: Hiding amongst the nobles of town, they can spy on someone every night.
- Cultist Spell Caster: Every night can choose to drive someone insane. If someone goes insane then they will die in two nights via suicide. The Cultists Spell Caster's action will be mentioned but not on who. There is a 50% chance that the role of the target will be revealed after suicide.
- Insane Cultist: Went too far into his own religion and now can’t piece his mind back together, he can redirect someone every night.
Goodies: They are normal people… everyday folk sucked into the Mythos. Win-con is they take out all baddies and indie.
- Doctor: Trained in the medical field, can save someone every night. (cannot heal insanity)
- Psychologist: Trained in psychology, can save someone from insanity *cannot be made insane himself and can save them even on the night of death, it will be mentioned every night who they attempt to save* (Cannot save the player from an attack)
- Policeman: A very paranoid policeman, he locks someone up in jail every night out of fear, saving the player but they can’t vote next day.
- Hunter: A very hot-headed redneck that will kill to save himself from some strange haunting, he gets a kill every night for the goodies.
- Mayor: Know everybody in town and their profession, can choose to look up someones role every night.
- Local Priest: A disbeliever in the Cthulhu Mythos even if it comes before him, he will attempt to stop some ones action every night in the name of god (block role)
- Fortune Teller: can predict the future and already knows about the Mythos, thus she can’t be killed at night (she can be made insane though)
Indie: A ghoul… man made into monster. Win-con is if he kills the Priest. Alternate Win-Con is to be the last one remaining, also if he wins to early on we will play for second place.
- Ghoul: Vote counts as x2 and at night can choose to kill or drive someone insane (not the same twice in a row). Also the ghoul is PART of the Mythos and can't go insane.
- Izzy – Fortune Teller
- Filly - Mayor
- Magic - Doctor
- Slick - Policeman
- Fox - Priest
- GMaster479 - Hunter
- NickFleming – Psychiatrist
MVP - Izzy
Day and Night Posts
|Year 1924, July 1st, in a small country town in the United States strange occurrences began to happen. In this town, known as Grand Well, a horror had been released. This is the story of the towns fight against this said horror, and it’s outcome.
The mayor watched the sun set. The letter he had received was unsettling. It went as followed:
“Tonight we will release a shadow upon this small town; a misfortune from which you cannot escape. Our pitiful, meaningless existence will be put to the test and those who have accepted it will last the longest in this nightmare of a town. This is sent as a warning to you, a man of respectable stature in the town. Give in to the power of the shadows and you will be spared to the very end, as those of the town are sacrificed and slaughtered before you.”
Sweat dripped from his brow. The mayor had given the best years of his life to the town; he wouldn’t just throw it all away to watch everyone die. He had to find out who sent this letter, and with that he began going through records and archives of anyone who could be suspicious.
“Do be careful tonight!” The fortune teller laughed out her words. The policeman rolled his eyes back at her and got into his car, driving off. What she said was unsettling… he came only to ask her about a missing persons case. He didn’t believe in the mumbo jumbo she dished out, but she has never been wrong about where the person (or bodies) could be found and who, if anyone, did the crime.
Tonight she spoke about beings from our nightmares, with long tentacles and scaly skin. Our existences mean nothing to them, and we will all perish before them as sacrifice. The news was terrifying actually. The more he thought about it, the more he felt the shadows creeping towards him, and whatever hid inside of them watching him.
Suddenly a figured jumped before him with intense speed. The policeman slammed the breaks and braced himself, for nothing to happen. He looked around, petrified by the darkness that quickly swallowed the land. Night had arrived and he didn’t feel safe… at least not at his home. He drove to the police station, and kept his eyes out for anything suspicious.
“Get, get! Wretched animal!” The priest wasn’t sure if the thing was a dog or human but he really didn’t care. It was eating the dead flesh of corpses it dug up in the cemetery out back. The priest yelled at the beast to leave and began throwing objects at it. The wild animal fled and the priest sighed to himself. “Whatever that was it shouldn’t be going around eating dead bodies!”
Meanwhile the ghoul waited outside the cemetery fence, this was the fifth time this week he had been caught by that same priest. He was only hungry, and fresh flesh wasn’t appetizing at all. “I’ll get my food soon… even if I have to kill that darned priest!”
The ghoul fled into the shadows and waited, watching the priest through the windows of the church. The man may soon get what’s coming to him.
The doctor rolled his eyes at the hunter. He came again with a slash mark, looking to get it inspected for infection and cleansed. The doctor sighed and finished bandaging the hunters leg, and then spoke, “If you really want this to stop then you’ll have to stop going too far out of town. There are some big animals nearby you realize.”
“Yeah, well, the big ones are always the biggest thrill to kill and take home!” The hunter had a stupid grin on his face. He has so many times before escape death before and he got a little cocky, considering himself not kill-able.
The psychologist who shared the office with the doctor spoke up next, “Yes, well, I think you have an obsession with the thrill and that’s a dangerous thing.”
The hunter scowled and stood on his leg and began to leave, “Shut up you old fart, I do what I darn please!”
The doctor and psychologist both watched the hunter leave, and at the same time both said the same thing, “Imbecile.”
“The night is here! The preparations have been made! We will begin to cast the ritual!” The cultist leader in his purple robes began chanting along with the spell caster. Another man hysterically laughed as he dragged in a woman, she was gagged and currently unconscious. She was never aware of the fact she wouldn’t wake up.
As the woman was dropped into a circle of runes the chants got louder, and the insane cultist took out a dagger. With a howl he plunged the dagger deep into her chest, killing her instantly. Her blood spilled onto the floor and slowly, and as the night grew darker, the shadow mentioned in their letter to the mayor finally consumed the small town of Grand Well. The cultist leader and spell caster finished chanting, and with a powerful voice the leader gave words of confidence to his allies, “We will live forever as worshippers of the Great Old Ones.”
|The local priest made his way down the neighborhood road. He was carrying a large cross, hammer, and nails. He stopped in front of a local mans house, NickFlemming, and made his way to the door. He placed the cross across the door and hammered in the cross to the sides of the house and the door, sealing it shut. Nick heard the hammering from inside and ran towards his front door, screaming from behind it.
“What the heck man?!” Nick was pissed, but as he made his way to the window the priest spoke in retaliation.
“Leave this house and I will have to use my hammer on you, I act in the name of god and will do what I must to keep you in this house at night.” The priest’s expression was tough and unfaltering. Nick stared at him from the window in disbelief. He wasn’t going anywhere tonight.
Nick had one last thing to say to the priest, but instead of testing his anger he just mumbled the word under his breath, “Idiot.”
Fox was wandering around Grand Well later that night. She could have been out for a peaceful stroll or something more sinister. The sound of a gun cocked froze her to a halt.
“Stop moving, I am taking you to the station.” His pistol was pressing into Fox’s back. She blinked confused at first, then glared straight ahead into the darkness in front of her.
“I’ve done nothing wrong! You have no right to do this to me!” Fox’s tone was one that conveyed annoyance, and if the policeman could see her face right now he might’ve inched slowly away from her; however, right now he was in the position of power.
“I am not taking any chances. You have to come with me.” With that the policeman took Fox away.
Back at the doctor office the doctor was suppose to be on his way home when he saw golfjunkie. Worried about how tonight was oddly darker than usual he offered golfjunkie a ride back to the office where they can safely stay. Golfjunkie politely accepted the doctor’s offer but upon reaching the office a scream was heard in the distance, signifying the death of someone else.
The ghoul made its way through the sewers, dragging behind him the body of Slick. Moments ago the ghoul saw slick and its stomach growled. His flesh was too fresh to eat currently, so instead of eating him alive the ghoul brought his claw down onto slicks head and dug his way in. There was a quick scream of pain before slick collapsed his body limp.
The ghoul would wait for its food to rot. Too bad it couldn’t have been the priest.
The spell caster set loose a Hound of Tindalos, this creature was a canine with a lean body with tight skin and bloodthirsty eyes, but had it a body? One couldn’t actually look at it for long or insanity would ensue, and smoke surrounded it most of the time. All that one could really tell was that a blue liquid was excreted from its mouth and “body” leaving a trail of where it has walked. It would only physically attack someone who messed with the laws of time, so currently it was harmless; however, someone, somewhere, took too long of a look, and their mind just lost sense of reality.
The sun had finally cast away the horrid shadows of the night. The doctor left his office to take a look around, to see if he could find the source of the scream earlier. In the middle of the road, not far from his office Filly lied on the ground motionless. The doctor went to inspect him and found hemorrhaging in the eyes, and some water coming from filly’s mouth. He somehow had drowned.
“What… but this is impossible?! No sign of any actual struggle, and there is no water close to this spot! I see no indication that someone put him here… it…” The doctor was dumbfounded, but a voice from behind explained what had happened.
“It was a spell… I recall reading about it, Breath of the Deep. The spell fills the victim’s lungs with sea water, drowning them. Is the water coming from his mouth salt water?” The fortune teller spoke her words with such seriousness. The doctor couldn’t help but take a closer look and discover that it was indeed salt water. He stood silently, picked up the body, and took it to be analyzed further.
Some where’s, in some unknown part of the town, the Cultist Leader smiled to himself.
|Vineetrika was walking down the street, when a group of paranoid townspeople came up to her. GM was among them and he spoke for the group, “Vine we have given it plenty of thought, and after plenty of suspicious people putting up there end of the argument we decided to ask you if you had any involvement in any of last night’s murders.”
Vine looked at GM and spoke proudly, “I have not done anything, and you are possibly related to the murders, are you not?”
Izzy was next to speak, “I have done some thinking and I believe that GM had nothing to do with the death of Filly, nor the missing slick.” Izzy looked at Vine oddly for a moment then continued speaking, “Vine, why is it you always hide in the shade during the day?”
There was a long pause and Vine didn’t say a word. Suddenly someone else gasped and began to shout. No one had time to see who had spoken but the words said were as clear as day, “Whatever she says she is lying! I saw her dragging Slick’s body away!”
Vine’s eyes widen and she ran from the group, upon entering the sun she flinched and made her way onto all fours, her nails growing in sharpness and the rest of her features changing slightly. The sudden change in her appearance left plenty of people shocked. Vine fled but the group gave chase…
Meanwhile Fox woke up in her cell. She slept the entire day away… and the policeman was nowhere in sight. She walked to the door of the cell and sighed to herself. She never imagined that she’d ever be stuck behind bars.
Fox paused for a moment… the policeman wasn’t in the same room. Quickly from her purse (who the policeman left with her, rushing to get her into the cell without checking her belongings) Fox took out a bobby pin. Silently and skillfully she picked the lock.
Moments after her escape Fox heard footsteps in the building, and whether they belonged to the police or not she didn’t want to be seen escaping, so she fled from the building. Outside she saw vine running from a group of townspeople all enraged, they called out to her, “Don’t let Vine escape! Kill the monster!”
Fox looked around quickly and saw a police baton on the ground, possible the policeman dropped it in his haste to drag her in (forcefully I might add). She picked it up and swung, a direct hit to Vine’s head.
Vine fell to the ground, still alive but unconscious, but the townspeople took quick care of that. Whatever Vine was… she wasn’t human.
Night fell upon the town of Grand well again; the shadow that covered the land before making it is return. Everyone sensed a dark horror, and everyone went to do their own thing, a few people staying back out to take care of Vine’s corpse.
|The priest made his way through the night, silently. He went to Magic’s house this night, hammer in hand. God spoke to him. He said magic may be up to no good. The priest was told not to kill, but only to stop Magic, for during the day she wouldn’t be able to do a thing.
The priest rang the doorbell, and Magic quickly answered her door. She saw the priests hammer and quickly attempted to slam the door shut, but it was too late. The priest took a quick swing, nothing too hard, but enough to knock her out. “I hope god is pleased with me… Magic will wake up with a horrible headache in the morning.”
The psychologist checked his papers, he could have sworn someone else was supposed to come in tonight, but the schedule said Izzy. He sighed and gave her a call but no one answered. The psychologist sighed again, nothing else to do tonight, and sat in his chair in thought.
The hunter loaded his shot gun. He wasn’t about to let him escape. Quickly he made his way to golfjunkie’s. golfjunkie didn’t even have a chance.
“I don’t trust you!” The hunter yelled, and blew the door open to golfjunkie’s home with one blast. golfjunkie who was relaxing at home jumped out of his seat, only for the hunter to fire again with his remaining blast. golfjunkie was killed instantly, his blood covering his own living room.
The hunter fled before anyone could check out the sound of the gunshots.
The spell caster was running through the shadows of night, being chased. Nick saw him, and found him suspicious, deciding to chase him down. Little did Nick know he was being led right to a trap.
The spell caster smirked, now “cornered” in an alley. “Well… looks like you have me cornered Nick.”
“Who are you?!” Nick commanded an answer. He was glaring into the alley at the mysterious man when the sound of heavy, flapping wings penetrates the dark night. Nick’s instincts made him look up to see talons dig into his shoulders. His eyes grew wide with pain and shock as he was lifted into air.
The spell caster laughed, and spent the rest of the night in the alley, hearing the yells of nick grow faint in the distance. “Oh, it’s hard to imagine what’s happening to that poor soul. They will never even find his body too…”
Someone else heard the screams of Nick and looked up at the night sky to see the flying beast. It was a Byakhee, a being that is about indescribable. It was crow, mole, buzzard, ant, and decomposed human being all in one! The horrific beast flew away with a screaming Nick, and whoever had the misfortune to look up just lost their mind.
|Jarze was cornered, just a few wrong words and then everyone was on him. His face scrunched up in anger and fear. He started to quickly spit gibberish out of his mouth, and a light fog started to flow from his body and over the land. “ooboshu Cthu-“
Everyone was quick to react, and everyone rushed him interrupting the spell. The riot was quick and sudden, everything happened so fast. In the end Jarze’s body laid limp on the ground.
Everyone disposed of the body and went on home, to find letters at their doors. Tonight there would be a party at the Mayor’s place. There the Mayor would supposedly consult everyone about what has happening around town, but why not have some good fun before all that? Everyone prepared themselves and went on their way. Some people had the intention to kill; others had the intention to help, either way this party was going to end with some bloodshed.
|The priest was at the party like everyone else, but for other reasons. He was watching magic suspiciously, and as she stood to go to a bathroom the priest followed. He watched as magic went into a bathroom, the door opened outwards, which was perfect. She closed the door behind her and the priest hurriedly grabbed anything he could and blocked the door. Magic discovered this moments later and slammed her fist against the door to no success. The priest had succeeded again in locking someone up.
GM was out on the balcony, three floors high. He peered over the edge and gulped to himself, and slowly balanced himself on the railing. As he did Izzy saw this and came running. GM heard the footsteps, and wasn’t surprised when he heard his name being called out from Izzy. “GM! What do you think you’re doing?!” “I’m tired of this…. The shadow has consumed this entire town and I won’t let it kill me!” GM frantically shouted out the words, the area started to get colder as his eyes went wide in terror. GM was losing his sense of reality. “I am going to escape this darkness through death!” “Gm don’t!” Izzy shouted and reached out her hand for it to be too late, GM jumped and fell three stories to the ground. The fall didn’t sound pleasant and when Izzy looked she saw the cracked skull of GM, and she couldn’t do anything about it. GM’s was claimed through insanity. Izzy fell to her knees, in shock, and in thought. She mumbled out to herself, quiet words, “But you were the only one capable of using a gun…”
|Izzy stood from her state of shock after seeing GM kill himself so hastily. She took in a deep breath and glared up at the night sky. She wasn’t waiting until morning to act. “I’ve seen what is supposed to happen to this town but… I will break my pact to myself and mess with my future. I will not let another innocent man or woman die!”
Izzy went straight to Fox who was to be trusted. She knew who was good and who was bad from the start, but didn’t think there was anything she could do about it. Now though that opinion has changed, Izzy believed that with the right people she can change that horrible future see had predicted for years to come.
Fox was still in the hallway, keeping Magic behind the door when Izzy showed up. Before Fox could make herself look innocent Izzy valiantly spoke, “Fox! That shadow will continue to plague us even if you lock Magic up, she is innocent!”
Fox blinked for a moment then looked at the door, then back to Izzy, “Are you sure about this?”
Izzy nodded, “I am positive! Seahorse invited us here, and the mayor is actually dead. This shadow… it’s a dark spell, want that will take us all as sacrifices to the outer gods.”
Fox, the priest, was in shocked to hear this talk of outer gods, and didn’t want anything to really do with them. At the same time Fox wanted to put an end to the murders and put these “Satanists” in their rightful place. Fox let magic out, and Izzy explained the situation to her. It was time to put Seahorse in his place.
The three girls walked into the foyer, where Seahorse was trying to leave through the front door he hexed to remain locked. He was currently trying to dispel his own spell when Izzy spun him around and pinned him against the door. “This is it Seahorse!”
Seahorse blinked in confusion and then grew a toothy, twisted grin that spelt out all of his insane plans. “Is it now? I should have seen this coming from you Izzy.” Seahorse pushed her off and began to move out of their way. “You are allowed to leave, no point in trying to stop you.”
Fox looked at him suspiciously and was enraged, “You expect us to leave after all of those innocent deaths! No! I will not have it! You’re just letting us go so you can escape with your own life!”
Seahorse growled in annoyance, only for Magic to run up and punch him in the gut, causing him to double over, “That was for all the people I couldn’t save in general!” She then kicked him right in the center of his face, “That is for the death of our mayor Filly.” Another punch this time to the face, “And that was for Nick, my good friend the psychologist!” Magic got ready to swing again when Izzy grabbed her hand.
“Restrain him, I saw what he did to GM, I want the final blow.” Izzy then ran off, she knew there was a gun in here some where’s, the hunter hid it to use tonight as a just-in-case.
Seahorse squirmed and struggled as Fox and Magic held him against the door. “Nyarlathotep will take you! Nyarlathotep will take you! Ooboshu Nyarlathotep! Ooboshu Nyarlathotep”
Izzy came back to Seahorse’s frantic screams. Other innocent people were watching by now as evil energy was felt excreting from Seahorse. Izzy lifted a shotgun and point at Seahorse. “Fox, Magic, step aside!”
The two others stepped aside and Seahorse fell to his knees, “OOboshu Nyarlathotep! Why aren’t you coming Nyarlathotep! You said I would succeed!”
“Let’s see if I learned anything from GM while I watched him kill JarZe from my crystal orb…” and Izzy fired. Seahorse’s body and disattached parts were actually pinned against the door and Izzy lowered the gun. Everyone stared at his body and the evil presence went away with a warm breeze throughout the building. The door clicked unlock and swung open letting the breeze out. Everyone left the mansion and stood in the golden light of the morning sun.
The shadow had vanished from Grand Well, and some have lived to tell the tale. They might not all be completely sane, or the same ever again; but surviving the mythos is a challenge. The survivors may have a lot in store for them in the future, but for now, it’s a time for peace.
