Prologue Of Doom |
---|
One year after the events of Dying of the Light
The next few months after his battle, Judas worked hard to perfect his army so he could do as Lucifer had failed to do before him: win the war against Heaven itself. The new King of Darkness practiced and honed his new powers and decided to see just how strong he was, his first test, to summon those who were lost during the war. Judas started with what he thought of as the basics, summoning the 7 Deadly Sins; before he knew it, his new minions stood before him, kneeling before their king. “And so it begins,” said the King. Meanwhile, Heaven prepared for war without its most powerful general; the Mother worried for Her children who had made it to Heaven and knowing that in Her weakened state She can not stop Judas by Herself. She summoned Her remaining soldiers and decided to meet the enemy at the gates, no one was going to harm Her children, ever. |
Night 1: At Heaven’s Gate |
---|
The sky in heaven showed no sign of the impending conflict; the sun shone and the gates of Heaven stood proud and firm, waiting for anyone to try their best to get past them. Before the gates stood the Mother, Her sons Ambriel and Cassiel by her side. When the enemy arrived, they did not show up with a legion as expected, but with nine familiar demons, including the Seven Deadly Sins. The new King of Darkness had grown arrogant with his previous victory; he would not be able to take Heaven with only nine men. And the Mother intended to prove just that, with the strength She had been gathering during the wait. The Mother first called down a storm to strike Fat Tony down before he took a step onto holy ground. Obviously shocked, the rest spread out slightly around Fat Tony’s corpse, just enough to make the fight more interesting. Mustering up Her remaining strength, the Mother changed the appearances of everyone, and summoned a maze for protection.... Game on. So lost, Boquise thought, why does it have to be a maze? I hate mazes... Boquise went on like this for several minutes, switching between right and left, with no clue where he was going. “Maybe if I just go back the way I came I’ll find everyone..” (Maybe) unfortunately, when Boquise turned around, the path he had just walked had been replaced by a queen-sized bed. “THAT was not there before...” he said, more than a bit surprised. “Oh no, I did that,” Luxuria whispered in his ear, “I thought it would be a bit more comfortable than the ground..” Boquise turned to try to see what was happening and (maybe) resist, but Luxuria’s only response was “here, hold this for me,” as she put something in Boquise’ mouth; try as he might he was not seen or heard from for the rest of the night Only a few rows from where Boquise was, Gubbey was not having as much fun. He walked slowly and carefully... he was pretty sure he heard voices in this direction. It wasn’t long before he found something of interest, a body. He quickly ran over to see who was laying there; it was Fat Tony, the one God had killed earlier that evening. The body was propped up against the wall unnaturally and Gubbey felt uneasy. but Gubbey didn’t get to finish his thought before he felt a sharp pain on the back of his leg, He tried to let out a scream of pain but it wouldn’t come. Jormungandr slithered away with a grin on his face. Aki stood still in her selected row of the maze; she had been told that the easiest way to get out of a maze was to let others find you. She let out a small call for the others to hear and waited for the others to arrive. Hours passed and no one arrived; she was starting to think that the others had forgotten her... until she heard the rapid patter of shoes on the floor of the maze. Safety she thought as she stood up to greet her friend, but the only greeting she got was the cold blade of Ira as he ran by. “OUT OF MY WAY, WHELP!” He yelled as ran, leaving his sword and the body of his “friend.” |
Day 1: Death to the Light |
---|
The maze quivered and shook before it suddenly fell, leaving the combatants in an arena-like room, empty except for a small fire in the middle. Each of those who had been stuck all last night had a chance to look on their “friends” and enemies; they saw no face they recognized, but they were sure that inside one of those bodies a God stood smiling at her work. As the day progressed the party of angels and demons began to ask each other questions, and voice suspicions: “What did you do in the maze?” “Who did YOU look for?” These questions got them nowhere fast and they quickly decided that action needed to be taken; they needed to end the battle fast to minimize casualties. Plots and plans were hatched, whispers could be heard by a simple walk around the room, but when the time came whispers were useless; someone had to die. The votes had been cast, no one wanted to be the one that was chosen. In this battle of angels and demons, there were no second chances; only oblivion awaited. The fire sputtered and died in the center of the room before exploding outward to catch Gubbey in the flames and drag him towards the center of a raging inferno. There was no rest for the light: Ambriel was dead. |
Night 2 |
---|
The smoke cleared from the fire, and the Mother wasted no time in getting revenge for the loss of another of Her sons. She smote Aaryan and raised the maze again before anyone could retaliate. “Bloody maze,” Dee swore under her breath as she walked down the maze, frustrated with lack of action. “Walking a maze is just SOOOOOO BORING!” Behind her, she heard footsteps and the crack of a whip: “Let’s make this night a little bit more interesting for you, then,” Luxuria purred. “What are you....” Dee tried to say as she looked Luxuria over, “are those cat ears?” “Meow?” Luxuria said playfully as she walked towards Dee and whispered, “ do you like cats?” “I do....” Dee responded hesitantly, not sure what Luxuria intended. Luxuria only responded with a smile and motioned behind Dee; yet another bed. “That wasn’t there before...” Dee said, more confused than ever. “That’s funny, that’s the second time I’ve heard that,” Luxuria said before using her whip to bind Dee’s wrists with practiced ease and pushing her forward. “What are you doing?” Dee said with worry in her voice. “Shhh, be a good girl, and you might just enjoy yourself....” Hirkala still smelled of smoke--he been standing closest to Gubbey when he was burned--and to his surprise angel smoke didn’t smell worse than most; he’d been sure that it would have at least smelled bad. He went on this train of thought for several minutes before he noticed his vision blurring. That’s odd, he thought as he started stumbling, I don’t remember drinking tonight... It was only seconds before Hirk was passed out on the floor, a teddy bear with a note saying “from Acedia” waiting for him to help him drift off to sleep... Brainiac heard a snore 2 rows down from him and tried to yell for help; he knew that where there was sleep, Acedia was close. He ran down the hallway and made a sharp left, only to lose his footing and trip over Jormungandr--- “Oh lovely chaos,” the snake hissed to himself as he slithered away. |
Day 2: Death of a Soldier |
---|
The day started much like the last one; the maze lowered and they were in the same stadium as before; the same fire that had claimed Gubbey the day before. The smoky smell had left the room, but curiously the claw marks on the floor had stayed. The talking started again; they knew that they weren’t allowed to leave until one was chosen for death. Once again promises were made and oaths were sworn, and in the end the choice was made with just as little remorse. Those in attendance bound Krystal and gagged her before throwing her into the fire; a clang was heard as they threw her in, but no one paid any attention to it. The murderers only looked away from Krystal after she stopped moving and they saw a flaming red sword on the ground, Brutus’ sword (formerly Michael’s), and they knew they had made a grave mistake. |
Night 3: Bad Luck |
---|
Story coming soon.
This time everyone knew an attack was coming, but there was nothing they could do about it. God summoned the maze and it rose out of the ground, splitting those in attendance once more. But this time, some poor soul didn’t make it all the way into the maze and Marth was crushed by the roof as the maze rose up to meet him. Vommack walked the maze once more, he was pretty sure he had figured out how to get where he needed to go by now; after all this was the third time he’d walked this exact maze....or was this the same maze? He took left and right, making sure to check around the corners to see if there was any danger first; unfortunately he never looked down... Before he knew it, Vomm was face down on the floor, tripped by a pebble no less. When he woke up he was sure he was delirious, the stone was... soft and red... except it wasn’t stone he soon realized, it was a mattress. “Are you alright?” Luxuria asked in a teasing tone, “you bumped your head pretty hard...” “Yeah, I think I’m alright,” Vomm said as he opened his eyes, “um...what are you wearing?” “oh... nothing much,” Luxuria said with a smile. “I can see that, I meant what are you wearing?” “Oh, can’t you tell? I’m your nurse!” Sure enough, she was dressed in one of those Halloween nurse costumes that weren’t quite fit for the job. “Um.....I’m fine, thanks,” Vomm managed to say. “I’m sure you are, now sit still, I need to check your heartbeat.” With that, Luxuria reached to rip open his shirt. Vomm tried his best to stop her, but soon found that he was tied at his wrists and ankles and couldn’t do much to stop her..... Dee was still feeling a little weird after her run in with Luxuria, and her mind started wandering as she walked down the hallway, am I really that flexible? she thought. Her thoughts were quickly interrupted by a drop of blood touching her face; she looked up in horror to see Marth pressed up against the ceiling ...I have blood on my face... Dee thought, trying to wrap her mind around it; before she could scream, she started feeling more calm. Why am I okay with this? She asked herself as she started to fall. “Shhhhhh,” Acedia said, letting Dee fall asleep, “sleep and forget.” |
Day 3: Death to the Mother |
---|
Today was not like the other days; when the time came, the maze fell and everyone was hushed; no one talked but one cried. Dee stood in the corner, alone, knowing that her time had come and that nothing she said could stop what happened next. She could feel the darkness around her, and she didn’t like it. She had been around since before the universe had began, she had seen trillions of people born and die and the only thing she had ever feared was the dark. In her fear, she had cast out her most loyal sons, not once, but twice, she betrayed those who called her Mother in an attempt to purify the darkness that she felt, but now it had come for her, after all the time she had spent and all of the people that had died, the darkness lived and watched the light die. With that the Mother faded and was no more. |
Night 4: Chaos Reigns |
---|
The night began, the demons began their conquest of heaven. Any moment now, one of the demons thought, the Mother’s magic should fail and we’ll be free to conquer what should have been ours in the first place. Minutes passed, then an hour and the room stood just as firm. “Foolsss, for all your effortss, you’ve only made things worse.....CHAOS REIGNSSSS!” Jormungandr hissed with delight as he summoned the maze once more, though it had changed; where the walls before had been solid and regal, they were now covered with clashing colors, and they weren’t even straight. It was as if reality itself had given up on trying... this was pure madness. Brainiac walked down the hall; she couldn’t look at a wall for longer than a second before her eyes started to hurt. “Why is it always mazes?!” She asked the air. “Well, mazes are fun aren’t they?” Asked Luxuria in response. “Have we been in the same maze, lady?” Brainiac asked angrily. “Well....I’m not exactly sure...” Luxuria pouted, “I haven’t been paying much attention to it...” “What have you been.... nevermind, I don’t need to know...” Brainiac responded as she turned to walk away. “Awww, come on, I got all dressed up for the occasion and everything.... you don’t like it?” Luxuria responded, motioning to her Harley Quinn outfit. “I was never a fan of Superman....” Brainiac said as she picked up speed. Without another word, Luxuria picked up her gun and fired 5 times; not using typical ammo though--the 5 chattering teeth found their marks, grabbing hold of each hand and foot before pinning her to the wall, the last finding its way to stick comically on Brainy’s posterior. “You’re not going anywhere, Bats,” Luxuria teased. “Now THIS is my kind of maze!” Aura practically yelled, “I think I had a party here once.... probably not.. this place isn’t colorful enough” She passed through the maze, not getting any farther than the night before, but definitely enjoying herself a lot more. “I wish I had a party hat...” Aura said under her breath, “and add some music and I don’t have to go anywhere...” “Pardon me...” hissed Jormy. “BLOODY HELL!” Aura screamed as she jumped back, she prepared to fight the giant snake but before she could, he was too far gone...... “THAT won’t haunt me in my dreams...” Aura said with a shiver. “No, it won’t...” Acedia said before making Aura drift off to sleep Aura didn’t get to rest long before she heard a clicking noise above her. “Who the bloody hell knits at a time like this?” Aura said groggily, “do you not see how freaking loud these colors are? How can you concentrate?” “I know, its beautiful right?” The woman responded, “you get used to it after a while.” “Get used to it?.... Who are you anyway?” Aura asked, growing more concerned. “The name’s Hel,” Hel responded with a smile, “not ‘bloody Hel,’ though I guess that’s valid,” “Um.... what do you mean?” Aura asked, just plain lost. “NOW see what you did? You made me do the cable backwards!” Hel said angrily, taking out her scissors. “Calm down, it’s easily fixed, I’m sure,” Aura said, trying to calm her down. “Sort of, yeah,” Hel said, cutting away the yarn in question. Aura fell to the ground instantly, dead. Hachi was having even less luck than the night before; he had found a dead end. “That’s not a good omen....” he said as he drew to a stop. He started hearing slithering down the hall and he shivered. That must be the same thing that spoke earlier... “STAY BACK!” Hachi yelled, trying to sound more angry than afraid. “Excussse me” Jormungandr said as he slithered by; with a wink he broke down the wall behind Hachi. |
Day 4: Land of Confusion |
---|
Like other nights, the maze fell. Unlike other nights, they were not in the stadium. Today, the survivors found themselves in what looked like a high school theatre each next to the other in the front row, only one missing. "What the hell...." Hachi said as he looked around, "what's going on?" "Oh nothing, just a little game I've prepared," replied a mysterious voice from the comm system. "A game?" Hachi asks nervously, surprises haven't been a good thing so far. "YES, a wonderful game, see!" With that the curtains of the stage opened to reveal Boquise standing on stage with a worried look on his face. The audience could see Boquise' mouth moving, but couldn't hear any sound from him. "If anyone can tell me what he's saying, then he lives; if not, he dies. Simple enough," the voice said with sadistic pleasure, "you have five minutes." "You've got to be joking," Hirkala said. "Oh, of course I am... 2 minutes." The mysterious voice stated. With that the crowd tried their best to guess, going through everything they could think of to guess what he was saying. After a minute and a half had passed, Boquise looked defeated; he stopped trying to speak and sign his way out of trouble and turned his back to the audience. "If you're not going to play my game, I have to get my fun somewhere else...." the voice said. With that, Hirkala stood up and smiled. "Food for my boy for the trip back home!" Hirkala stood up from his chair and walked over and pulled a lever dropping Boquise down below the stage. "Just a snack for now, Fenrir, the rest is for later!" "What do you mean, what are you talking about, Hirk?" Hachi said begging for an excuse. "My name is LOKI!" Loki said with a mischievous smile on his face, "and you're dog food!" As if on cue, Fenrir broke out from under the stage with Boquise in his mouth; he quickly did away with the rest of the demons before following his father down the hall and to the doorway they came into this world through. Now i just need to talk to father, Loki thought to himself as he walked through Odin's castle. When he arrived in his father's throne room, Loki could barely contain his excitement from his victory. "Father, I've won us a new world! I slew an entire army of demons and won us a new world to rule and start over!" Loki declared, intentionally leaving his banished children out of the report. "A cur is still a cur no matter who they slay," Odin said, his voice heavy with anger. "Who are you to do this without my permission?!" "But father..." Loki tried to protest. "How dare you! You are no son of mine, get out!" Odin said, as firm and cold as always. With that, Loki turned and left, bitter. This was his day; he had worked so hard to please his father... but no more, for tomorrow would be the end of days.
