Halloween Mafia II was a game designed and hosted by GMaster479 based on an original idea: costumes were designed after real MafiaManiac players (name and abilities). Most abilities were designed by the members themselves in the design phase (publicly).
It began on October 30th, 2010 and ended in a Goodie win in D5 (November 9th, 2010).
Game Mechanics
Rules
- Tie lynch rules: First event of a tie = No lynch. Every tie after that = Both lynched
- Spies and unsuccessful actions are not shown in the night-post.
- Day vote manipulation is hinted at.
- Baddie Kill is group kill so unblockable and unredirectable. Though a save would obviously work.
- Endgame scenario: if an Indy (who cannot kill) remains among the last 2 people alive it is a joint win.
Role Description
BADDIES: WINCON: Be in majority. Have BTSC and Night Kill
GOODIES: WINCON: Eliminate all Baddies and Indies. - Will learn which costumes are part of their faction
INDY FACTION 1: WINCON: Be in Majority. If the main Indy dies then the recruited indies can win together or with their separate factions
INDY FACTION 2: WINCON: Be last faction standing.
Potential Roles (more than actually used)
- harvey45: Hacker by day, dancer and party-goer by night. Can hack his vote up to x2 during the day, or dance around all actions on him at night. Can only do one per day/night cycle.
- Framm18: Tends to get killed/trapped/blocked N1, so he locks himself in a room and cannot be killed N1 or Lynched D1. He doesn't have an action N1 and doesn't have a vote D1 either. After that he can spy every night.
- Molly Mae: An untrained investigator. N1 has 2 RID guesses to learn roles. For every two incorrect guesses, she gets one additional RID the following night. For every correct guess, she gets one fewer.
- EDM: Ability to spy and learn faction, can't be killed at night
- Fox: The baddie queen. When spied, will appear as a predetermined goodie role, can change Baddie Kill decided upon via PM.
- Filly: Almost never gets the same role twice. Has horrible luck with RID roles. Spends too much time playing Advance Wars. Host rolls a die to choose action. On one instance, can perform same action twice in a night, but the baddies have a 50% chance of finding out his identity. 1: Kill, 2: Save, 3: Spy, 4: Redirect action, 5: Redirect vote, 6: Block
- xDily: a spy role who is horrible at putting 2 and 2 together. is always the last to figure things out. Chooses a target to spy during the night. is PMd with their role (and faction if the roles arent assigned to a specific faction publicly) once the DAY POST is posted. (:
- RainThinker: The easily mistrusted healer. Can save one person per night, but cannot target the same person twice in a row. When spied, appears as a random baddie
- sparrowhawk: Extremely talented at logical deduction, can select a subset of up to 4 players on the roster. Is informed of the number of closed actions (i.e. actions by players in the subset on players in the subset) in the subset. Also told the generic description of such actions (block, spy, redirect, save, etc.).

2) Bravo blocks Charlie. 3) Charlie saves Delta. 4) Delta kills Alpha. If sparrowhawk selects the subset {Alpha, Charlie, Delta}, he is informed that two actions occurred (Charlie and Delta's) and they were saving and killing actions. Because Bravo wasn't selected, actions by or on Bravo are ignored. |
- Phaze: The confused plastic surgeon. Saves the person who he elected to lynch at the end of the day (unless they are dead in which case he defends himself). Can once per game permanently swap costumes (abilities only not faction) of any two players (living or dead) to cause confusion
- Glycereine: Useless Baddie. Is unkillable at night and can add a line to the night post. If targeted by MM, both die
- StarTiger: Acts like ghost. If spied on at any time, faction is random. On odd nights, can control the action of one costume per night. On even nights, can send a player a PM through the host.
- Vipe-Ninja Master: Master of the way of the snake. on even nights, using a secret ninja technique, he can paralyze his target with fear, blocking their action. On odd nights, he can slither around in the grass to spy on an unsuspecting target.
- NickFleming: Converter Role. Chooses a target to convert and plays a game with Rock Paper scissors. If he loses, his role is revealed to them, if he wins, they are converted to his faction, if they tie, nothing
- Izzy: Jedi Master. Can use the force to redirect once per night. If he targets Hirk before Hirk targets her, gains power to manipulate her or Hirk's vote by 3
- Hirkala: Sith'ari. Can use the force to redirect once per night. If he targets Izzy before Izzy targets him, gains power to manipulate his or Izzy's vote by 3
- Golfjunkie: Schizoid Kleptomaniac Cat Burglar - steals the role of 1 of 3 targets PM'ed to the host each night and changes it to a random role selected by the host, but the action of the role that was changed never shows up in the night post, although the target selected by the host is PM'd back to the SKCB. If the target has no night action, their vote counts for x2 the next day. The target is not aware that their role was switched/vote counts for x2.
- Not24: Jekil and Hyde: Can't bring himself to lynch anyone during the day (vote counts as 0) but at night is a rampaging serial killer

Game Idea and Expectations
Factions
- 3 Baddies
- 8 Goodies
- 1st Indy Faction - The Star Tiger Costume - which could control a costume, even if it were not in the list of costumes playing in the game.
- 2nd Indy Faction - Izzy and Hirk costumes - If they ever redirected one another, they'd become a secret Indy faction on the side, still able to be part of their Goodie/Baddie faction but also have their WinCon of surviving till the end. If they both survived, they would win as an Indy Faction.
Game
The Baddies looked pretty stacked ... almost like random.org wanted the baddies to win. And it did pan out till Night 3. Night 1 was good, the Framm and 24 costumes' vote did not count resulting in a tie, Night 2 successful kill, Day 2 - goodie lynched... Night 3, that's when everything kinda fell apart:
- Sparrowhawk was killed by JarZe in the Filly costume
- Framm switched his costume with Izzy's costume - that meant that Izzy was basically outed (as her costume was not among the list of costumes in the goodie faction
- Framm slow-played it. When he first did it, my first thought was Izzy is just gonna say "Framm is bad. All of this is gonna be good if we just lynch Framm".
- But Izzy, being a little bit foolish on her part, just slow played it, just like Framm did.
- And after a while, Framm was just like "OK. I just wanted to see your reaction. Izzy, you're a baddie. Let's go." And, it was so. A very good job for Framm.
And with that, there only one baddie left in the game. That baddie made it all the way to the final three. The scary thing is that the baddie is also an Indy. Phaze got lynched and the Goodies won. This was really really close:
- Phaze was a Baddie/Indy
- On N1, Molly got killed but her action was to steal NF's costume and use it to convert people (As I had originally planned).
- So Phaze became this Baddie/Indy, and once Sparowhawk and Izzy were gone, he was basically on his own.
Host disappointments
- The Indy factions did not do much
- The First Faction had the ST costume, killed in N1 by Baddies.
- The Second Indy Faction was never created since the Izzy/Hirk costumes did not redirect each other.
- I have my own few screwups: I think I PMed Filly the wrong spy once ... I think I did a lot of other .. like that thing with Framm costume was not really explained but overall, for having not made up the roles myself, I'm pretty content with the way this ended. It was really fun to do, and it was really close the entire time
Alternate endings
- Turning point N3: SparrowHawk changed his initial action to redirect JarZe to another action. Redirecting JarZe would have saved him from being killed.
- Day 5: If Glyc had been lynched, Phaze would have won as an Indy ... and so would the Goodies. (since Fox could save herself from NK).
- Day 5: If Fox had been lynched, Phaze could have killed Glyc the next night to remain sole survivor.

It was a week or so before Halloween. All of the children of the neighborhood had just finished playing a game of football in the street and were just relaxing on the front porch of GM's house. They were talking about their Halloween costumes they were planning on wearing.
"I'm going to be wearing a cute fox costume" squeaked Fox "Of course you are...a wolf in sheep's clothing is more like it" said Phaze. Everyone laughed, even Fox gave a chuckle. "Hmm...I think we need to all have crazy scary costumes this year." declared Izzy "Yeah Izzy...I'll make a costume of YOU for Halloween this year. Now THAT would be scary." said Hirk. Everyone was , especially Framm, who's laugh was bigger than everyone else. "Shut up guys. Mine wouldn't be the scariest" quipped Izzy. "That would be Framm's." Framm stopped laughing for a second and started defending himself, saying "Umm...I think that'd be Glyc. No offense" "No way it'd have to be MM" "No LH" "No...Marq definitely!" They all started arguing over who would have the scariest costumes, all the time thinking of the powers each one would have. Finally, SH spoke up with a quirky glint in his eye. "Well...I know what my costume is going to be. I'll see you all tomorrow after I'm finished with it." he said, and walked off with an oddly shaped grin on his face With that, the group quickly dispersed to go start making costumes of all types of different people. They worked all night working on the scariest looking costume they could make based off their friends. That night...a few of the neighborhood kids got together and started talking about their Halloween plans "So...which costume did you make?" asked one of them "Oh you know exactly who I did mine based off of." said the second. "I think I do. What about you my friend?" "Do you really have to ask?" they answered showing off their costume. "Sounds good. We have one other possible friend who may join us later. Guys we will be taking this neighborhood by storm this year. Best of all, we won't be blamed for any of it with the costumes WE chose. This neighborhood runs out of candy so fast because they have no idea what they are doing. Let's make sure we get it all this year. Alright?" "Yes Boss" replied the next in line. "You got it." said the third. Mine...mine...it will all be MINE!!!! The night after all the costumes were finished...an eerie air came over the the neighborhood. The costumes the children had made were all infused with the powers based off the traits of who the costume was based off of. The children realized this and with it the Night was ON! |

Night 1: A bag chock full of someone...
Halloween had arrived. The kids on GM's block were running along merrily, and it looked like any other night. This was oddly suspicious though...as it was Halloween and everyone seemed to look and dress normal. The costumes were in full effect, and the baddies knew how to take advantage of this. They had made over one of their houses very elaborately, with gravestones, black cats, spiderwebs the works. It looked amazing, and one could only imagine what massive candy bars hid behind that door. So...who would be the first to discover it was a trap.
The Filly costume was brilliantly done. It looked just like him with his Advance Wars shirt and a Kirby beanie. The person wearing it was out trick or treating and ran into another person who had their costume off counting. "Hey Izzy" he said. "I know there is one house all the way at the end of the block that is giving out HUGE candy bars" Izzy knew he had other plans for the night, but couldn't resist the thought of missing out on a big score of candy, and ran off to find someone else. |

Day 1: GM say whaaaaaa?
All the kids, with their costumes still on and their stomach's aching, were relaxing on GM's porch. After some intense discussing and finger pointing it seemed that Filly was done for. All the kids called for GM and he had a shocking result for the kids "Guys...it's tied!" "But...how? "Well one of the voters isn't really here, and one vote doesn't count, so it's tied!" The kids were confused and elated at the same time. No one was going to get lynched today |

Night 2: Going to vote??
Today was election day on GM's porch, and all the kids were voting for various different things. OT went to poll ready to submit her vote, but when she got behind the curtain...a strange force cupped her mouth and the next voter found a big surprise when they got in the booth... Also GM repeats his notice from before. Framm's role has been re-worded to clarify Framm18: Tends to get killed/trapped/blocked N1, so he locks himself in a room and cannot be killed N1 or Lynched D1. He doesn't have an action N1 and doesn't have a vote D1 either. After that he can spy every night. |

Day 2: Zombiefied
In one of the most chaotic Day 2's ever, the vote appeared tied. When GM came out everyone wondered how the votes would fall knowing there were people who could manipulate the vote and said... "Viper...you know the rules...your vote doesn't count. I'm sorry but you are gone." With that the children ripped off his costume and tore him to shreds without heeding to GM's most important words ...your vote doesn't count ...your vote doesn't count ...your vote doesn't count But it is too late now, your Goodie Killer is dead |

Night 3: FRANKEN FRAMM!
The Filly costume was shocked that they had lynched their own killer the day before. So furious he was that he woke up in a blind rage with an enormous amount of power, and he only had ONE target it mind. Without hesitation he burst the door to SH's house open, waking him and all of his neighbors up. But it didn't matter. The Filly costume ripped SH's costume to unrecognizable shreds and knocked him flat out before tossing him out of his window. With SH gone, the Filly costume reverted back to normal and quietly went to sleep in SH's bed so that no one would think anything had happened... The baddies had been on a roll and planned on that happening. They had decided the best way to take out this next victim was through a good old scare. They came in as zombies and poked him on the shoulder. GJ opened his eyes and jumped 5 feet high!...hitting his head on the ceiling and knocking him out cold. Not exactly how the baddies planned it...but they took it in stride and stabbed him in the back as well just for good measure . Little did they know how simple they just made the game... The Mad Scientist in the Phaze costume, not to let the baddies simplify things, had finally awoken and was ready to perform the costume switch. This wasn't any ordinary costume switch though as these enchanted powerful costumes could not merely be swapped. The 2 subjects were brought into Phaze's lab and strapped down to the tables with their costumes on "NOW YOU HUNCHBACK FOOL NOW!" howled Phaze "Yes Master" replied the mad scientist assistant. With that...Izzy and Framm's costumes did a switcheroo and thus the game turned upside down! |

Night 4: Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting
The Hirk Costume was out and about tonight. As he was walking around the neighborhood he saw Fox nibbling on some leftover Halloween candy. Feeling ill-spited for not having internet, the Hirk costume grabbed Fox's candy bag and tossed it into the cellar of her house. Fox chased after it and forgot her plans for the night The Viper costume was in a role playing mood tonight. Still in his snake costume he slithered around until he saw a pair of unsuspecting legs. "Slither Slither Slither" he did, until he took his bite, and Glycereine would be checked for rabies for the rest of the night... The Filly costume was again out and about, this time with a new random power. This time, his costume gave him Kirby's gulping power and he was ready to use it on his target. He found Phaze and charged after him until he tripped before gobbling him up, stopping him for the night. JarZe was walking around in the late hours of the night. He walked up to the door of his house and found it to be locked. Having had this happen to him before, he decided to sneak around to his bedroom window. He grabbed a ladder and ever so silently perched it up against the house next to his window. He quietly trekked up to his window and grabbed a hold of the ledge, but the window ledge had been greased. JarZe fell down 2 stories and fell into a massive hole obviously dug by the Baddies and then covered up lightly to not look suspicious. JarZe was pronounced dead that morning |
