Game Mechanics[]
Rules[]
Days will be around 24 hours long unless someone pleads no contest. Nights will be up to 24 hours long, but may end earlier if all actions have been sent in. I will try to keep to a schedule of 10 PM EST as the ending time for most days, so days/nights may be shortened/extended to resynchronize with this schedule. Notice will be given at the beginning of each day/night.
Dead men tell no tales. Ghost posting of any kind is NOT allowed. If you are dead, you do not post in this thread unless specifically told you have permission to do so. There may be ways to return from the depths of Davy Jones' locker...
In the event of a tied voting, the player with the lower pirate rank will be planked. If there is a tie for the lowest rank, a coin flip will be used to determine the loser. (TIME PERMITTING - In place of the coin flip, a single round of pirate dice may be played to determine who gets planked, but only if agreed upon by all parties, and all parties and the host are present and available to play at the time the day ends.)
Please try to be active and participate in discussion. Inactive landlubbers will be flogged.
Standard mafia rules apply... no BTSC if you aren't a pirate, no metagame replication of host PMs, etc
There will be no hints or clues of any kind in the day/night posts. There are no secret abilities for any of the roles.
However, as in the first Pirate Mafia, there will probably be random events that will happen during the voyage, these will be announced in the posts to everyone
Pirate Points, Ranks, & Items |

Player Name Pirate Rank Pirate Points™ Item Joe's Student 1 - Cabin Boy 4 Bag of Gold Fox 0 - Stowaway 1 rossbeemer 0 - Stowaway 1 sparrowhawk 0 - Stowaway 1 Shadow 0 - Stowaway 1 seahorse 0 - Stowaway 3 Pirate Hunter 0 - Stowaway 1 Cute Psycho 0 - Stowaway 1 Einkil 0 - Stowaway 1 Tob1n 0 - Stowaway 1 Prof. Temple 0 - Stowaway 1 Dawg 0 - Stowaway 1 grimtooth 0 - Stowaway 1 ichimaru 0 - Stowaway 2 Surge 0 - Stowaway 1 Cherry Lane 1 - Cabin Girl 2 Bag of Gold Burning_in_Ic 0 - Stowaway 1 1 Pirate Point™ awarded for successful completion of crew application. Q. What does my Pirate Rank do exactly? A. In the event of a tied voting, instead of a coin flip to determine the outcome, the person planked will be the one with the LOWEST Pirate Rank. If the tied players have equal pirate rank, then there will be a coin flip to determine the loser.
It may also be used to decide other coin flip situations, but overall impact on the game will be minimal. Your Pirate Rank also determines which items you are eligible to purchase with your Pirate Points™. See Pirate Mafia I - Awards & Ranking for a more detailed explanation. ITEMS - Purchase with Pirate Points Anytime during the sign-up process, items may be purchased using Pirate Points, as long as the player has sufficient rank to purchase the item. All item purchases are final and non-refundable. Each player may only have one item at a time, and purchases must be made before the roles are sent out. Unless specified otherwise, items are used up after one use. If a player is killed before they use the item or does not use the item during the game, the item is not lost and they may use it for the next game. All items will be visible on the roster when the game starts. 2 Pirate Points (Requires Rank 1) - Bag of Gold 4 Pirate Points (Requires Rank 2) - Pirate Investigator
Bag of Gold - Can distribute gold coins to bribe other sailors during the day. +2 vote weight for that day only. +1 if 5 or less players voting. Distributing the gold takes some time, so PM must be sent with at least 2 hours left in the day. -Will be announced in day post that a bag of gold was used, but not by who. Pirate Investigator - Use at night to hire Mangum, Pirate Investigator to conduct an investigation on the player of your choosing. You will learn that player's identity after the night post. |
Role Description[]
PIRATES: - Win if they are the last faction left alive. Know each other's identities and can communicate secretly. (BTSC). Can kill one player each night.
- Pirate Lord - Always appears as an innocent if investigated, will show as pirate if planked. Can permanently gain the abilities of a dead pirate, but only once during the course of the game. Cannot gain voodoo abilities. Can use new abilities the same night they are acquired. Will still show as innocent to investigation even after gaining new abilities, but can be targeted(RID) as either the Pirate Lord or the role the abilities were taken from.
- If the dormant Kraken assumes the role of a dead pirate, the Pirate Lord can no longer assume the same dead pirate's abilities while the dormant Kraken is still alive. If the dormant Kraken dies while a pirate, then the Pirate Lord can assume those abilities if he hasn't used his ability yet already.
- Pirate Wench - Can select one person each night to "visit". That person fails to perform any actions for that night. (They were sorta... distracted. kiss.gif wub.gif ) Does not have any effect on Kraken (It isn't interested.) Takes precedence over all other night actions. Does not show in night post, target is informed via PM that they were visited by the Wench.
- Pirate Alchemist - Once during each day, can PM a person's name AND role (RID). If correct, that person dies from poison during the night if not treated by herbalist. If incorrect role is given, the wrong poison was used and the person will know they were poisoned (informed via PM after day post). If treated by herbalist at night, poison save will appear in night post. May not target the same person 2x in a row. Does not count as a night visit.
- Voodoo Pirate - Uses the blood of his enemies to cast powerful voodoo magics. Receives 1 unit of voodoo magic for each successful player killed by pirates, via poison or otherwise. Cannot cast more than one spell per night, and cannot use the same spell two nights in a row. Casting a spell does not count as a visit. Any voodoo magic used will appear in the night post, but the targets of the magic will not be revealed.
- 2 units - Voodoo Swap - Through the use of blood and voodoo dolls, the Voodoo Pirate links the bodies of two target players for one night. The effects of any actions taken that night on Player A will instead affect Player B and vice versa. Only the effects of actions on the body are swapped (kills, saves, poison saves, wench), investigations by navy officer, stowaway, lookout will still affect players normally.
- 3 units - Voodoo Hex - Targeted player becomes hexed and will die if visited by a NON-pirate player on the same night. Returns to normal the following day. Death will appear as a normal pirate group kill.
- If the dormant Kraken assumes the dead Voodoo Pirate's role, he may keep any units of magic the Voodoo Pirate had prior to his death. However, the Voodoo Pirate will not continue to gain units for kills that occur while dead, but units can be gained for kills that happen on the same night the dormant Kraken assumes the role.
Pirate Group Kill Clarification: The pirates must select one of their members each night to perform their group kill. Since the group kill counts as a visit, the player performing the group kill will appear to have visited the player killed that night.
CREW: - Win if all the Pirates (and Kraken) are dead.
- One-Eyed Jack - Former pirate who once awakened the Kraken, but has grown old and is now paranoid that the Kraken is after him. Is missing one eye, and can't see very well with the other. Will kill ANYONE who visits him during the night, except the Kraken. Cannot be pirate killed at night using normal means. Can still be poisoned or killed via other means. OEJ will not die if planked, but his identity will be revealed. Wins with innocents. Players killed by OEJ will appear in night post. OEJ cannot be saved by the doctor or herbalist using normal means, as he would kill them before they can act on him. One-Eyed Jack is outed when he dies.
- Bartender - The bartender is well-liked and respected among everyone on board. All his votes are counted double(triple if over 12 people voting). The bartender has an extensive knowledge of drinks and thus cannot be poisoned by the Alchemist. *Will learn the Alchemist's identity (PMed after day post) if a poison attempt is made on him, but Alchemist will also learn Bartender's identity.
- Doctor - Chooses one person each night to save. If that person would be killed by pirates that night, they are saved instead. Can save self, but cannot save the same person two nights in a row. Does not save from poison or Kraken's parasite. 50% chance to save from One-Eyed Jack. Successful saves will appear in night post.
- Navy Officer - Chooses one living person each night to investigate. Learns faction (pirate/crew/Kraken) of the person investigated. Counts as a visit. (PM'ed after night post)
- Stowaway x2 - Can visit one person each night and hide in their cabin. If that person is visited at night, the Stowaway will know who visited them. (PM'ed after night post) Stowaways may not visit themselves as they do not have their own cabins.
- Lookout - From up in the crow's nest, picks one person to watch each night. If that person visits someone at night, the lookout will know who they visited. (PM'ed after night post) Does not count as a visit.
- Herbalist - Each night can choose one person to visit and counteract poison. Successful saves will appear in night post. Can target same person 2x in a row.
- Fortune Teller - Each night, can PM the name of a role and selects a targeted night action available to that role. Fortune Teller looks into her crystal ball and will be informed which player(s) that ability was last used on, if at all. Cannot use her ability to see the actions of the Kraken. Does not show in night post or count as a visit. The Fortune Teller is an anti-social recluse and shuts herself in her cabin almost all the time, and thus can never be saved by the doctor or herbalist. Her vote always counts as 0.
- Voodoo Priestess - The Voodoo Pirate was once her student, now they are sworn enemies. Voodoo Cancel - Any night, the Voodoo Priestess may choose a player to cast her protection magic on. (Does not count as a visit) If that player is targeted by voodoo magic that night, the spell is canceled. If the Voodoo Priestess selects the Voodoo Pirate and the Voodoo Pirate attempts to use voodoo magic that night, the spell backfires and the Voodoo Pirate is killed. Will be announced in night post.
- Messenger - Each night, the messenger chooses a sender and a recipient. A secret coded message will be delivered (during night post) from the sender to the recipient. Counts as a visit by the messenger on both ends. May target self as either sender or recipient. The message may be intercepted/tampered with. If the messenger is killed at night by pirates, the pirates will receive the message instead of the intended recipient. If the messenger is visited by the wench at night, no message will be sent out at all. If the sender is visited by the wench, the wench will be allowed to write the message instead of the original sender. If the recipient is visited by the wench, the wench will receive the message instead. The message will be delivered normally in all other cases. Due to the complex nature of the secret code, specific rules exist for writing the coded message. Having delivered messages for him before, the messenger knows the identity of One-Eyed Jack. One-Eyed Jack however, does not know the messenger nor the meaning of the phrase "Don't shoot the messenger". The messenger will be killed if he attempts to deliver a message to/from One-Eyed Jack.
Spoiler for Messaging Rules |
---|
In order to avoid timing issues when sending messages, everyone should send in a potential message as part of their night actions. Players will be notified if they were chosen as the sender by the messenger and that their message was sent out. If the wench intercepts the sender, the wench will be notified instead and the wench's message will be sent out. The messenger encodes messages using a secret code and therefore only very specific messages may be sent. The code cannot convey any other types of language expressions. PlayerName IS RoleName [OR RoleName]* RoleName IS PlayerName [OR PlayerName]* PlayerName MIGHT BE RoleName [OR RoleName]* RoleName MIGHT BE PlayerName [OR PlayerName]* [PlayerName/RoleName] VISITED [PlayerName/RoleName] [ON Night X] VISIT PlayerName [ON Night X] VOTE FOR [PlayerName] [ON Day X] PlayerName IS INFECTED. [-from PlayerName]
Any number of expressions may be used, except for the -from PlayerName which may only be used once at the end of the message but is optional. Detailed Example: I(Barnacle Bill) am Stowaway and witnessed Pirate(Bloody Mary) kill Pegleg Pete on Night 3. Through the voting I've figured out who the bartender(Red Rose) is. This would be a sample message for Night 4. Barnacle Bill IS Stowaway. Bloody Mary VISITED Pegleg Pete ON Night 3. (Pegleg Pete was killed by Pirates on Night 3) Bloody Mary IS Pirate. Red Rose IS Bartender. VOTE FOR Bloody Mary ON Day 4. -FROM Barnacle Bill |
- Swashbuckler - A master swordsman. Never without a weapon, the swashbuckler will appear as a pirate if investigated. Can choose one person each night to visit and protect from pirates. Can choose self(defend). If pirates try to kill that person at night, an epic battle ensues. 50% chance the pirate is killed, 25% chance the swashbuckler is killed, 25% chance target is killed. When defending self, chances are 50/50. After used successfully, swashbuckler's identity is revealed during night post. If planked, the swashbuckler will randomly kill one of the players who voted for him.
INDEPENDENT: Win Condition - Kill OEJ then last one standing, or joins another faction.
Kraken - The legendary sea monster. The Kraken is in a weakened state having failed to kill One-Eyed Jack in the previous voyage. It is currently inhabiting the body of some poor sailor, but grows weaker with each passing day. At night, continues the search for One-Eyed Jack in an effort to regain its power.
Parasite form - Objective: Kill One-Eyed Jack
Spoiler for Parasite Form: |
---|
Starts out in Parasite form, inhabiting the body of a sailor. While in Parasite form, the Kraken controlled sailor may visit a number of players during the night and make a guess at their roles(RID). If guess is correct, Kraken successfully implants a parasite into that player. Neither the Kraken nor the infected player will be informed if the guess is correct or not. The player will be unaware they were visited at all. May not visit the same player more than once in the same night. (Counts as a night visit, does not show in post.) The Kraken may choose to follow a player and watch them for that night, and will learn who that player visited, if they visited anyone at all. (Same as lookout ability, except counts as a visit). May also visit a player each night in search of One-Eyed Jack. Kraken is too weak to kill anyone other than One-Eyed Jack. Players other than OEJ will be unaffected. (Counts as a night visit, does not show in post) Kraken must specifically be searching for One-Eyed Jack in order to kill him. If Kraken follows OEJ or tries to infect him with a parasite, the Kraken will not be informed that it was OEJ. Kraken cannot be killed while in Parasite form. If the Kraken is killed or lynched, its identity will be revealed, but it will not die. The Kraken itself is immune to poison/voodoo. If investigated while in Parasite form, the Kraken will appear as a normal crew member. |
Kraken form - Win Condition - All remaining players are either dead or under parasite control.
Spoiler for Kraken Form: |
---|
If the Kraken successfully locates OEJ and kills him, the Kraken returns to its full strength and becomes the legendary monster once again. (Will be announced in night post.) Kraken is then informed which players it has successfully infected with parasites. Kraken can only maintain control of up to 3 players at a time. Players infected by the Kraken's parasites will remain unaware they are infected. The Kraken has limited amount of control over these players. It can secretly manipulate their votes during the day, and if the Kraken itself is killed/lynched, it may sacrifice one of the infected players to die instead. If the Kraken is killed/lynched when it has no players under its control, it will die. The Kraken can kill one player each night while in Kraken mode. Swashbuckler/Wench will have no effect on this kill. Voodoo can cause it to kill a different target. Doctor will have only a 50% chance to save the Kraken's victim. (Counts as a night visit, shows in night post) On odd nights while in Kraken form, the Kraken can make a parasite attempt(RID) in addition to its kill. Will appear as Kraken if investigated while in Kraken form. Is still immune to poison. When the Kraken kills OEJ and achieves Kraken form: Doctor will gain "Diagnose" ability. Doctor may choose to visit a player at night and check for signs of parasite infection. Doctor will be informed if that player is under Kraken's control or not. If the Doctor himself is infected with a parasite, all diagnoses will show as negative. All players except Kraken will then have "Suicide" option at night. Out of fear of the possibility of being controlled by the Kraken, any player may choose to take their own life during the night for the good of the rest of the crew. They may still take their normal action that night. |
Dormant form: Win Condition - Varies.
Spoiler for Dormant Form: |
---|
If the Kraken fails to locate OEJ in time, or if OEJ dies by some other means, the Kraken goes into dormant form. It must find a new body to inhabit and will lay dormant inside that body for the next 10 years. Kraken is told number of players dead from each faction. Kraken then selects a dead player. Kraken inhabits dead player's body and gains all abilities and win conditions of that player's role and is no longer considered to be the Kraken. -The Kraken cannot inhabit the body of One-Eyed Jack. If investigated, appears as that player's role would. Can be killed normally. If that player was a Pirate, Kraken joins the Pirate faction and gains BTSC. Previously infected players return to normal. If the Pirate Lord assumes a dead pirate's abilities and then the dormant Kraken chooses that dead pirate, the Kraken will just become a regular BTSC pirate with no extra abilities since the Pirate Lord already has them. |
Kraken Summary:
- Nights 1-3: Parasite form (gets weaker each day)
- Night 1 - 3 parasite attempts, 1 follow, 1 kill OEJ visit
- Night 2 - 2 parasite attempts, 1 follow, 1 kill OEJ visit
- Night 3 - 1 parasite attempts, 1 follow, 1 kill OEJ visit
- (Can sacrifice parasite attempts to follow instead, but not vice versa)
- Day 4: Kraken form/Dormant form
- If Kraken form, can kill every night, and implant parasite on odd nights.
- If Dormant form, assumes role, abilities, and win condition of dead player.

Ending Pirate Rank Scores
Pirate Rank Scores and Pirate Points have been calculated, but I'm not going to post the full explanation of the scores for a couple reasons.
1. I've made some improvements to the scoring system and I'd prefer it if people didn't just take it and use it in other games without even talking to me about it first, so I'm not going to give out any more details. dry.gif
2. The scores were supposed to be an added bonus to the game to make things more fun, but the the objective of the game should still be to win with your faction. I don't want the scores to affect the way the game is played, and have players playing specifically to get a high score at the cost of their faction losing.
If you guys have any concerns about the results, feel free to PM me about it and we can discuss them. Its also possible I've made a calculation mistake on the Pirate Points, so if you feel I've calculated something wrong or missed a point you should have had, just PM me and let me know.
Top 5 ranked players for Pirate Mafia 2 are:
Surge (+3 Pirate Points) sparrowhawk (+2 Pirate Points) Einkil (+1 Pirate Points) grimtooth CL
+2 Pirate Points were awarded to all surviving members of the winning faction (grimtooth), and all other members of the Pirate faction received +1 Pirate Points (sparrowhawk, seahorse, Fox).
+1 Pirate Points awarded to Prof. Templeton for being the winner of the Whirlpool Puzzle.
- Captain's Awards went out to sparrowhawk, Surge, and Einkil for use of particularly clever tactics or outstanding play.
- Consolation Awards are normally given to those who die on Night 1 (Fox, Einkil), and the Day 1 lynch target if innocent (Pirate Hunter Zoro). Since Einkil was given the chance to come back in the game to fill in for a missing player, he was no longer eligible for the Consolation Award.
- Inactivity Penalties were given to JS and seahorse.

Intro |
---|
(Credit & thanks goes to Burning_in_Ice for writing most of this) A scarlet bird soared through the air and landed gracefully on a low, thick branch overlooking Jeweled Island. A slight breeze rustled through the drooping, emerald-green leaves of palm trees. Wildflowers bloomed next to outcroppings of rocks and swaying ferns. The sand gleamed golden, colliding perfectly with the blue-green hue of the ocean. Paradise. Pure paradise. Except… Jeweled Island, North Beach. “Arr,” the Pirate Lord growled, ramming his cutlass into a sand dune. “We’ve been stuck on this here island for a fortnight, mates. There’s a good chance that we’ll be here forever.” “That wouldn’t be so bad,” the Pirate Alchemist said, stirring a sinisterly purple potion with a spoon. He was an expert on poisons and often worked as an assassin for hire, although he had recently had an urge to be a cruel warlord of the seas. “This island’s got everything we could want.” “Not everything…,” grumbled the Pirate Wench from behind a tree, flicking a silver dagger between her hands. She had a talent for distraction and… persuasion. “This island is just so boring. Plus there’s no treasure.” “Aye,” agreed the Pirate Lord. “We wouldn’t be pirates without gold and jewels.” "Ya mon, and don't be forgettin' dat I needs sum blood for me magicks. If we be da only ones on dis here island, wheres da blood gonna be comin' from?", said the Voodoo Pirate. The Pirate Alchemist leaned silently against the trunk of a coconut tree. “A ship is on the horizon, perhaps that will do.” he whispered. All four pirates turned their heads towards the ocean. A small brown dot was barely visible, floating on the waves like a feather. The Pirate Lord grinned and sheathed his blade. “Mates,” he said, smiling. “I think it’s time for us to make a signal fire.” Sinistral’s Fury, Main Deck. The Lookout lounged against the side of Sinistral’s Fury, holding a telescope in his leather gloves, occasionally glancing at the sea for any sign of land. The Bartender swaggered out of his cabin, holding two bottles of rum. Passing one to the Lookout, he grinned and took a deep swig. “Nothing like some ale to cool your parched throat, mate. Any sight of land yet?” The Lookout drank gratefully and wiped his mouth on his sleeve. “Rum sure hits the spot,” he agreed. “But there’s no sight of land yet.” The Bartender was silent for a few moments, but suddenly remarked, “Isn’t that smoke rising?” The Lookout held the telescope to his eye and peered out in the direction that the Bartender was pointing at. Sure enough, a thick column of gray smoke was spiraling from the shore of an island. “Land ho, mates!” he shouted, running from the deck. “Land hoooooooooo!” Jeweled Island, North Beach. Hours later, a ship had docked on the sandy beaches of Jeweled Island. “Well,” the Lookout scratched his head. “I’m sure I saw smoke…” “I’m sure you did, too,” muttered the Navy Officer, kicking some ashes and watching them be blown away by the winds. “Probably just some natives,” the Lookout shrugged. “It was silly of me to think there would actually be some stranded people.” “Everyone makes mistakes,” winked the Navy Officer, walking onto the ship and disappearing down into the lower deck. The Lookout followed. Neither of them noticed four shadowy figures climbing on board. Sinistral’s Fury, Main Deck. The Pirate Lord put a finger to his lips and gestured towards a set of doors marked “Cabins.” The rest of the pirates nodded and silently crept through the doors and down a set of stairs. Sinistral’s Fury, Pirate’s (Temporary) Quarters. “Okay,” the Pirate Lord glared, his hand playing with the handle of his long, silver scimitar. "We've gotten on the ship, and I reckon we can stay inconspicuous for a while. But what are we going to do?" “Look at this place,” hinted the Pirate Alchemist, gazing at a silver platter of exotic fruit. “It looks fit for a king. Worth plundering, all right.” “Ya mon, dis be a real nice place”, added the Voodoo Pirate. The Pirate Wench sat down on the wooden planks and said, “Yeah, but they aren’t going to just hand it over to us, eh?” “Maybe so,” agreed the Pirate Lord. “But if they just happened to disappear, then no one would complain. Now listen up, mates, I got a plan…” Sinistral’s Fury, Crew’s Quarters. (One day later) The Navy Officer leaned back on his chair and surveyed everyone in the room carefully. “I’ve called this meeting because I suspect that trouble may be closer than I thought." The Bartender passed around bottles of ale to everyone and stroked his chin. “I agree. I've started to see shadowy figures flitting around the ship. Something's up." There was a murmur of assent. The Bartender was well liked and his opinion counted twice, thrice if more than ten people were there. The Lookout absentmindedly twirled his telescope like a baton. With his expertise in spotting tiny details, the Lookout could pick one person to observe each night. “Pirates?” he asked. “That crazy Fortune Teller lady has been going on and on about pirates for the past day or so. They say she can see things, but I’ve never seen her leave her cabin. Yet it really seems like she knows something.” “No,” the Stowaway said. He liked to hide in people’s cabins so he could know who visited them during the night. “I don’t know what everyone’s going on about. Pirates? Please.” Everyone looked at the Stowaway. No one could remember him being part of the crew, but in times like this, that wasn’t important. Every person was needed. The Doctor opened his case of medical supplies. “Well, I don’t care. If there are pirates, then there are going to be casualties. I’ll try to prevent that.” “Yup,” the Herbalist cheerfully agreed, as she dumped a mountain of herbs and potions onto the table. “I don’t know much about surgery and wounds, but I can heal someone from a touch of nightshade or wolfbane.” “There be a rumor dat one of me students be up to no good round dese parts, if we see big bad voodoo magicks hurtin' any of us on dis ship, use my magicks to stop dem", added the Voodoo Priestess. “Excellent,” said the Messenger, ideas forming in his head. He could secretly deliver messages at night between crew members to help them coordinate their abilities. “If we work together, things will be better in no time.” The Swashbuckler flung his sword into the air and caught it without looking. A master swordsman, he could defend a person every night, although there was a chance of the victim and the Swashbuckler himself dying. “I think we’re ready. I don’t intend to go down without a fight. ” “If it’s just us and pirates, then we’ll – hey, Jack, what’s wrong?” One-Eyed Jack peered at everyone through his beady eye and shivered. “We’re not the only ones. I feel a presence I have not felt since – ” He collapsed to the floor, gasping. I knew this would happen someday, his sub-consciousness thought. Time to lock myself up. Kill anyone who enters. There was a loud thump against the hull of the ship. “Dismissed,” the Navy Officer shouted. Once again, no one had noticed four extra people in the room. The pirates grinned at each other and headed back to their temporary cabin to discuss their actions for the night. Sinistral's Fury, Underwater The Kraken contentedly tapped on the ship with one of its snake-like tentacles. One-Eyed Jack, the horrible pirate that had almost killed it once, was on this exact ship. Revenge could finally be exacted. Closing its five eyes, the Kraken reminisced about the past. When it could swallow up two ships at once. When it could cause a hurricane by simply blinking. Until One-Eyed Jack had came. He had visited the Kraken’s cave, searching for a vast treasure of gold, jewels, and silver. But the Kraken was there, readily defending the hoard it had accumulated through the assassination of the greatest and most horrible pirate lords. A fierce battle ensued, but One-Eyed Jack had the upper hand, what with a full crew of pirates and his legendary sword, Backbiter. The Kraken was stabbed in its chest three times and in a trail of murky green dust and blood, it had descended down to the deepest corner of the ocean and had lain in rest for over 50 years. A few months ago it had awoken and located One-Eyed Jack on this very same ship, but was beaten off by pirates before it could kill him and take back what One-Eyed Jack had stolen. The Kraken opened its eyes and disfigured its gruesome mouth into what seemed to be a smile. "He is here somewhere," it thought as it began murmuring mystical words. Its power was waning, but One-Eyed Jack was nearby. It needed to find him soon… to do that… it would need to stay hidden somehow. Later that night, nobody seemed to notice when a crew member suddenly fell over clutching his stomach, then got up, shook his head dazedly and walked off with a glazed look in his eyes.

Night 1 - You Don't Know Jack |
---|
The moon was obscured by clouds in the night sky as the Sinistral’s Fury left Jeweled Island and headed east across the sea. The lack of illumination combined with the recent rumors about pirates being onboard made it a restless night for the crew. A solitary hooded figure walked swiftly across the deck and descended down the stairs towards the crew members’ cabins. Judging by the quickened pace of its steps, the figure was quite intent on reaching its destination. The footsteps slowed as it arrived at its destination. The figure paused for a few moments outside the cabin door and looked around to see if anyone was watching. Nothing but silence. Slowly, the figure opened the door to the cabin and stepped inside the doorway… One-Eyed Jack wasted no time in breaking the silence. He charged into the doorway, firing his pistol in one hand and thrusting at the figure with his rapier in the other. “I HEARD ya comin’ a mile away, ye blasted KRAKEN! Me eyesight ain’t what it used to be but me hearing is better than ever! I defeated ye once before and now I’ve done it again!” The figure fell to its knees, having been shot several times and impaled on One-Eyed Jack’s sword. Red blood poured from its mouth as it struggled to speak a few words with its last remaining breath. “But I’m a Fox… not a Kraken…” Elsewhere, on the deck of the ship, Einkil stood looking out at the sea as he couldn’t seem to sleep. All this talk about pirates and sea monsters had him worried. So worried, in fact, that he failed to notice in time that someone had snuck up behind him and tied a length of rope around his neck. The other end of the rope was already fastened up high in a number of pulleys that made up the rigging of the ship's sails. Einkil instinctively reached for a knife on his belt but he dropped it as he was suddenly pulled high into the air by the rope around his neck. As he hung up in the rigging, frantically grasping at the rope, he saw the pirate down below raise a bottle of rum in his direction and shout, “How’s it hangin’, matey?” Einkil struggled for a few more moments, and then his body went limp. Arr! Thanks for playing, Fox and Einkil! Stick around as there are many mysteries at sea... but please keep in mind... Dead men tell no tales. (no ghost posting allowed) It is now Day 1! Day will end at 10PM EST. Lets hear some votes, you scallywags! |
Day 1 - Identity Crisis |
---|
The crew gathered on the deck to discuss the events of the previous night. “There be pirates among us! They killed Einkil! And look at what happened to Fox!" remarked a few of the crew members. "It’s all One-Eyed Jack’s fault, he’s gone crazy!" "Aye, if he weren’t on board, we wouldn’t have to worry about the bloody Kraken either!” The mob grew angrier and angrier the more they considered the situation. “If we get rid of One-Eyed Jack, maybe the Kraken will leave the rest of us alone!” shouted one crew member. “He used to be a pirate, maybe he’s gone crazy enough to be helping them”, added another. They looked around amongst themselves… “Pirate Hunter Zoro! You claimed to be One-Eyed Jack! This be yer fault!” The crew quickly surrounded Pirate Hunter Zoro, tied him up and forced him out onto the plank hanging precariously over the starboard side of the ship. Pirate Hunter Zoro pleaded with the rest of the crew. “Please! You’re misunderstanding! I can explain everything, just not right now! Just wait until-“ His words were cut off as they shoved him off the plank and he plunged into the cold ocean waters below. “Ye can explain everything to Davy Jones, One-Eyed Jack!” The crew settled down a bit after that, confident that they had gotten rid of the cause of their problems. “I could use a bit of rum”, commented one crew member to another as they returned to their daily activities. “Aye, me too… lets head over to the bar.” “Bartender! Where ye at?” several of the crew members asked as they gathered at the bar and were confused as to why it was empty. The body of Pirate Hunter Zoro continued to sink deep into the dark depths of the ocean. The real One-Eyed Jack climbed out from his hiding place beneath the bar, and headed back to his cabin for the night. Yarrrr! It be Night 2 now, mateys! Night will end at 10PM EST tomorrow. Same pirate time, same pirate channel! |
Night 2 - Interlude |
---|
Captain Sinistral sat in his quarters, perusing over a large map of the sea. For the past few hours, he had been trying to decide what the best course to the ship's destination would be. He knew these waters like the back of his hand and could sail through any storm, so the safety of the ship was not an issue, it was more a question of which course would make the voyage more interesting. It certainly had been interesting so far, with a group of pirates and the legendary Kraken on board the ship once again, but Sinistral wondered what he could do to make it even MORE so. He considered the events of the previous night and the crew members that had been lost at sea early in the voyage. "Lets consult the spirit of Fox," he thought. Fox always makes things interesting. Sinistral walked over to the corner of the room and dragged out a small chest from underneath the navigation table. He opened it up, and from inside the chest he removed a mysterious looking skull with blood red rubies inset in the eye sockets. Sinistral mumbled a few words and the "eyes" began to glow with an eerie red light. The spirit of Fox appeared, hovering over the sea map. Fox, you may move the ship 3 squares in any cardinal direction, or combination of such. (e.g. South, East, North) You may not move off the edge of the map. The darkened area is unexplored and will be uncovered as the ship travels nearer to those areas. North is up, South is down, East is right, and West is left. Please make your choice and post it here, PM me if you have any questions.

Night 2 - Interlude - End |

"Well this will certainly be interesting," thought Sinistral as he set the ship's new course. "Let's hope the crew can handle it." The waters grew increasingly turbulent off the starboard bow as the Sinistral's Fury sailed eastward into the night. |
Night 2 - Chick in Every Pot / Deja Voodoo |
---|
Night 2 – Part 1 - A Chick in Every Pot It was another ominous night on board the Sinistral’s Fury. The waves seemed to be getting larger and larger as the ship pressed on along its course. This made walking about on deck rather difficult as the waves rocked the ship violently from side to side, even for those sailors who had already earned their sea legs. One particular crew member was having a rough time of it. She had just left the bar after having some rum, and was trying to make her way across the deck to the stairs that descended to the crew’s cabins. The rum calmed her nerves, but it didn’t do much for her ability to walk straight. She lost her footing and stumbled to the floor, but a hand reached out and caught her just before she hit the deck. She looked up into a handsome dark-skinned face with high cheekbones and intense eyes. “Ahoy, ye might want to be careful where yer goin there lass, there be danger about,” said the other crew member as he helped her to her feet. “Aye aye, thank ye kindly for the assistance,” she said, smiling and batting her lashes at the man. “In that case, would ye mind walking me back to my cabin?” “Aye, certainly.” "By the way," she said, "I didn't catch yer name?" "Tis Will, Will Turner. I'm the ship's cook." The woman tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, glancing down at her feet, a blush appearing across her face. "Well...I am a little hungry...'haps ye could make me a midnight snack that we could enjoy together?" A grin spread out over the man's handsome face. "Aye, it would be my pleasure to mix up something special for ye." He held out one hand to take hers and led her towards the kitchen. The moonlight glinted off the knife that the man held in his other hand, behind his back. The next day, when the ravenous crew gathered in the mess hall for supper, few of them took peripheral notice that one of their crewmates were missing. They were too focused on scarfing down the cook's delicious new dish. "What be this new dish?" one of them asked, between greedy mouthfuls. The cook smiled mischievously. "Ye heard of 'Welsh Rabbit'? Well, this is a dish I call 'Serbian Rabbit'...with special Chipotle Pepper seasoning..." (Part 1 courtesy of ysan.gif Thanks!) Night 2 - Part 2 - Deja Voodoo? Later that night… a solitary figure hurried down the stairs towards the crew cabins. Much like the previous night, it headed towards a particular cabin… the blood stains from the night before had been wiped clean, a little too clean. The figure paused outside the doorway for a few moments, then opened the door slowly and stepped inside… … … … One-Eyed Jack lay shivering in his bed as the figure approached. His face was a pale green and his hands shook violently. He could barely lift his head to turn towards the doorway. His once loud and booming voice was naught but a whisper. “…blast ye… kraken… why now…” The eyes of the figure began to glow with the deep blue color of the sea as the Kraken could barely contain itself. 50 years it had waited for this very moment. “…curse ye Kraken… and curses to whoever did this to me. Be done with it already.” Several tentacles shot out from the figure and wrapped themselves around One-Eyed Jack. Brutal thrashing noises were heard emanating from the cabin for several minutes as the Kraken exacted its revenge. By the time the rest of the crew arrived they found the cabin turned completely inside out and blood all over the cabin walls. The body of the great One-Eyed Jack Templeton was never found. The massive tentacled Kraken waited in the waters near the Sinistral’s Fury, now having returned to its true form. It had finally gotten its revenge on One-Eyed Jack, and retrieved its lost treasure… yet it was still not satisfied… it wanted revenge on the crew of this ship who had prevented it from finding One-Eyed Jack the last time. It still had control over the crew member it had used to infiltrate the ship and find One-Eyed Jack… as long as this crew member was still alive… it had a presence on the ship and could begin exacting its revenge on the crew of the Sinistral’s Fury. It is now Day 2! Day will end at 11PM EST tomorrow. There will be a map location based event later today! |
Day 2 - Map Event - Whirlpool |
---|
Captain Sinistral stood at the helm of the ship as it continued on its plotted course... right into a whirlpool! "Brace yerselves, mateys!" The crew of the ship was tossed about violently as the ship was pulled into the turbulent waters of the whirlpool. Only the finest crew members were able to brace themselves and keep their wits about them. To brace yourself against the whirlpool, find the hidden pirate or nautical related words within this word search. The goal is to find as many as you can. PM me the list of all words you have found, but you may only submit your answers ONCE. The person with the most words will receive +1 Pirate Points. The lowest 2 scorers will have been unable to brace themselves and their votes will not count today. (Their names will show in the day post.) Pirate rank will be used to break ties for the lowest score. Ghosts are welcome to participate for the extra pirate point as well. Good luck, crew! Day 2 – Cannonball! |
---|
The crew of the Sinistral’s Fury was tossed about as the ship continued to spiral further and further into the whirlpool. Captain Sinistral stood calmly at the helm of the ship, assessing the situation and preparing his strategy. Most of the fine crew were able to brace themselves even in these dire circumstances, and were able to discuss and argue over the identities of the pirates hiding on board the ship. “Seahorse is a pirate!”, shouted one crew member. “Nay, Dawg be the pirate!”, responded another. “They both be pirates!” , exclaimed a third. Eventually the crew came to a general consensus that Seahorse had to go. They searched around for him and found him sprawled out unconscious in a cargo net, as both he and Surge had been unable to brace themselves when the ship entered the whirlpool. “Well that makes things easier… he’s already half tied up!” The crew bound him with rope and pondered how they were going to make him walk the plank in such a dangerous situation without risking their lives as well. At that moment, Sinistral had finished his preparations… it was the time for the ship to make its move as the whirlpool had spun the ship windward. “All hands on deck!” “Secure the rigging! Turn hard to port!” The crew forgot about Seahorse for a moment as they performed their duties. “Load ALL the port-side cannons!” “Prepare to fire!” The crew was perplexed as to why the Captain was ordering them to load the cannons when there were no other ships out on the sea, but they did as they were told. Well… almost. The captain didn’t specify exactly what to load the cannons with... so one of them decided to improvise. Captain Sinistral continued to yell out orders. “Turn hard to starboard! Heave ho mateys!” The ship was almost facing windward and the strong wind filled the sails, carrying the Sinistral’s Fury to the very edge of the whirlpool and almost out of danger. “Fire ALL port-side cannons at once!” At that moment, 11 cannonballs and 1 unconscious Seahorse shot out of the cannons, flew through the air, and vanished into the whirlpool. The reaction force of the cannons firing was just enough to propel the ship out of the pull of the whirlpool and into safety. Once they were out of danger, the crew spent some time searching through Seahorse’s cabin. They found a number of odd skulls, bones, and vials of blood hidden everywhere in his cabin. The Voodoo Pirate was no more. Congrats to the ghost of Prof. Templeton who won the whirlpool puzzle with 36 words found! He receives +1 Pirate Points! Thanks to all who played! |
Night 3 - A New Course |
---|
"Well, that was certainly interesting," thought Sinistral as he returned to his quarters. "It's not every day that a ship finds itself in a whirlpool, but this crew seemed to hold up just fine. Looks like we'll need a new course though." he thought to himself. He walked over to the navigation table and got out the same chest with the mysterious skull inside. "Lets see where the spirit of One-Eyed Jack Templeton takes us." He said a few strange words in some unknown language and the skull began to glow. The spirit of Prof. Templeton appeared, hovering over the sea map laid out on the navigation table.

Night 3 - Jack's Call |
---|
One eyed Jack continued walking. It felt like he had been at it forever and his legs were numb with weariness. He shifted the oar he was carrying from his left shoulder to his right as he crested a small knoll and approached a man who was busy concentrating on a broken wheel of his pull cart. Jack paid him no mind. He had seen others along his journey and they were inconsequential. As he passed, the man looked up and said, “Hey you. What’s that thing you’re carrying on your shoulder?” This question made Jack stop in his tracks for the first time in what seemed an eternity. He slowly turned his head to look at the man and that was when he heard it. A fiddle! Playing in the distance, merrily and steadily. Was this the place he was looking for? Had his long journey come to an end? Jack looked to his front again, ignoring the man with the broken wheel, and scanned the horizon. A village stood against the backdrop of the hills in front of him, shimmering in the heat, a wavy blob of green against the darker surroundings. There was only one way to find out. He continued on, taking a path that was East, East, East, away from the sinking sun. I hope Sinistral forgives my liberties in describing OEJ's travels to Fiddler's Green. -PT |
Night 3 - Double Trouble |
---|
The crew was much more relaxed now that the whirlpool was far behind the Sinistral's Fury as it continued eastward. The moon shone brightly and illuminated the calm ocean waters on this night. The crew could almost have considered this a pleasant evening if not for the constant threat of pirates and the Kraken still looming over their heads. Up ahead on the horizon, the crew could just barely make out what appeared to be a faint green glow hovering over the water. One crew member in particular had trouble sleeping so he remained on the deck, trying to decide what to make of the strange glow up ahead. In the end he decided that the Captain must know what he was doing, and he shouldn't worry about it since they had made it out of the whirlpool without any problems. Whatever was causing this glow couldn't be that bad compared to the whirlpool, right? He was heading down the stairs towards the crew cabins when he bumped into a hooded crew member. "Hey matey! Didn't mean to bump into ye, but ye were standing right in the doorway.", he said. He tried to go around but the hooded crew member took a step to the right and blocked his path. It was then that he noticed the strange pale blue eyes looking out at him from beneath the hood. He turned to run back up the stairs but it was too late. A tentacle shot out and grabbed him by the leg, dragging him to the floor. He fell face first onto the stairs with a loud thud. The Kraken began to forcefully drag him down the stairs, his head banging loudly on each step. The crew member was all bloodied and disoriented by the time the Kraken dragged him to the bottom of the stairs, but somehow he managed to muster enough strength to draw his dagger and slash the tentacle that was holding him by the leg. The Kraken recoiled its wounded tentacle and the crew member took advantage of the moment and began running up the stairs and away from the Kraken. He made it about halfway before the Kraken wrapped another tentacle around his neck. As he struggled to break free, he noticed another crew member had appeared at the top of the stairs. "Heeeelp! Its the Kraken!" said the injured crew member. The figure at the top of the stairs nodded and drew his pistol, aiming it down towards the Kraken. "Good thing ye came to save me. Shoot it!" he cried as he wrestled with the tentacle around his neck. The figure at the top of the stairs took aim and fired his pistol... ... ...right into Rossbeemer's heart. "Sorry matey, I didn't come here to save ye," said the pirate as he quickly ran off in the other direction. The Kraken didn't like being interfered with when it was trying to kill, so the pirate wasn't about to stick around and find out. The Kraken let go of the dead Rossbeemer's neck and headed back to its hiding place in the crew cabins. |
Night 3 - Map Event - Haunted Waters |
---|
An eerie green glow emanated up from the waters around the Sinistral's Fury as it boldly sailed right up next to the large rock formation jutting out of the sea known as the Spire of the Damned. Folklore said that the waters near the Spire were haunted and the spirits of those who had been lost at sea could sometimes be seen, floating around in the glowing water. The crew looked about nervously as strange wailing noises filled the air... perhaps some of these spirits had some unfinished business... At that moment, a ghostly whisper could be heard upon the wind... "Missing the company of a female? I would have introduced you to my cousin who's also a Bartender (runs in the family). Her name's Tifa. But since you guys planked me, I'm not too keen on helping you out tongue.gif" Another barely audible whisper was heard saying something about carrots in odd places, a second simply said "Foxdung", and then a third ghostly voice chimed in which kept repeating a single word... "Kraken." There was a high pitched wail which caused the crew to put their hands over their ears. All the different voices were garbled together as the spirits were seemingly at odds with each other. Then there was silence. The crew cautiously removed their hands from over their ears. A single whisper could be heard... barely audible at first, but growing steadily louder... "Kraken." The faint voice continued to repeat the word, growing louder until it became a strong booming voice. The familiar booming voice of One-Eyed Jack Templeton. The green glow coalesced into a hazy humanoid form, and the spirit of One-Eyed Jack Templeton in the prime of his youth could be seen hovering above the ship.

Day 3 - YTMND |
---|
The crew had gathered on the deck once again, trying to uncover the pirates among them. "Dawg is a pirate!" shouted a crew member. "I'm not a pirate, I'm the herbalist!", Dawg responded. "Okay then Shadow must be the pirate! Lets kill Shadow!" "I'm not a pirate either!" said Shadow. "Surge must be the pirate then! Lets get Surge!" The crew had a hard time coming to a decision but in the end the majority had decided on... Dawg. "You're the man now, Dawg! Get him!" said the angry crew. They surrounded Dawg and tied him to the mizzen-mast. "Any last words, Dawg?" the crew asked. "I am the herbalist. Goodbye." said Dawg bravely as he accepted his fate. The entire crew then drew their weapons from their belts and hurled them at Dawg. Daggers, knives, cutlasses, and axes all twirled through the air in almost perfect unison and lodged themselves into Dawg's body. A knife grazed one of the pouches on Dawg's belt causing its contents to spill out onto the floor. Crimson blood trickled down the mizzen-mast and mingled with the pile of herbs at Dawg's feet. The Herbalist was no more. |
Night 4 – The Pirate Bride |
---|
Einkil the 2nd stood at the aft of the ship, looking out at the green glowing waters surrounding the Spire. He wondered if the spirit of Einkil the 1st was out there somewhere. “Oh well,” he thought. “I’d better be heading back to my cabin.” “I am the Dread Pirate Roberts,” said a voice behind him. “There will be no survivors.” Einkil quickly turned around and was face to face with a pirate, rapier already pointed at Einkil’s throat. “Any last words, matey?” the pirate asked Einkil, but Einkil simply shook his head and accepted his fate. Einkil closed his eyes as the pirate’s blade moved towards his throat… Clang! The sound of metal striking metal. Einkil opened his eyes in shock and looked down to see that another sword had parried the blow and pushed the pirate’s blade away from his neck. Shadow stepped in between Einkil and the pirate. “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya… You killed my father, prepare to die.” With lightning quick speed and agility, Shadow launched a series of thrusts at the pirate, forcing him to take a few steps backwards and away from Einkil. Minutes seemed like seconds as Shadow and the pirate traded attacks and parries back and forth. Einkil’s eyes could barely keep up with the swordplay of these two men. After a few more minutes of spectacular fighting, the pirate was becoming visibly tired and Shadow clearly had the upper hand. “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my-“ “Stop saying that!” interrupted the pirate. “I’ve never met you or your damn father! I’ve come here for one thing, and yer getting in the way, matey!” “Yer sword work is splendid, I’ll give ye that, perhaps ye should have been a pirate. A pirate, however, knows how to even the odds,” said the pirate as he drew his pistol and fired it at Einkil… Einkil closed his eyes once again when the pirate had fired the pistol at him. There was a loud thud and a metallic clang as Shadow and his rapier fell to the deck. Einkil opened his eyes. Shadow had jumped in front of the bullet! Shouts and footsteps could be heard in the distance as the rest of the crew had heard all the commotion and were rapidly approaching. The pirate, frustrated at his failure to kill Einkil, muttered a few curses and ran away. Shadow looked up at the stars as his vision faded to black, a faint smile on his face as he knew his death had not been in vain.
Burning_in_Ice sat in his cabin, reluctant to go out on deck with all the ghosts and strange things going on the night before. His thoughts were interrupted by a sudden knock on the cabin door. “Hmm… it could be the pirates, I’d better not open it”, he thought as he grabbed his pistol and pointed it towards the door cautiously. He waited a few moments and then heard some scuffling near the bottom of the door and then footsteps walking away. Looking under the door, it looked like there was a piece of paper on the floor outside. Burning_in_ice let out a sigh of relief. “Silly me, it’s only the messenger,” he thought as he opened the door. He looked around cautiously and didn’t see anyone, so he reached down and opened up the folded piece of paper… “GOT YOU!” was written in blood on the paper. Before he had a chance to react, tentacles shot out and grabbed Burning_in_Ice around the neck, covered his mouth, and pulled him to the ground. Nobody could hear Burning_in_Ice’s muffled screams as the Kraken dragged him off into the darkness.
Cherry Lane headed for the aft of the ship along with several other crew members who were also heading in that direction. They had been at the bar having some rum but immediately left when they heard the sounds of a swordfight and then a pistol being fired. “Perhaps I’ve had a little too much rum tonight,” thought CL since she felt a little dizzy and was having trouble walking straight. She leaned on the rail of the ship to regain her balance. Suddenly her heart was pounding and she was having trouble breathing. “Inconceivable…” said Cherry Lane as she gasped for air one last time and fell overboard into the water. |
Day 4 - Kraken |
---|
The crew gathered on the deck once again to try and uncover a pirate or Kraken among them. Nearly all agreed that Surge was definitely not a crew member and needed to be disposed of. The crew drew their weapons and advanced upon Surge, cornering him against the rail of the ship. "Wait!" shouted Surge. "If you guys try to kill me... I'll kill Ross!" The crew stared at him blankly for a few seconds, dumbfounded by this ultimatum, and then they made their decision. All of the crew members fired their pistols at Surge... ... .. . Except for one. JS suddenly found his body moving of its own accord. There was a look of horror in his eyes as his body moved right in between Surge and the oncoming barrage of pistol fire. Surge used JS' bullet-ridden body as a shield and then jumped overboard, his body transforming into a mass of tentacles in the process. The crew expected to hear the sound of Surge hitting the water below, but no sound came. They looked out over the edge of the ship to see the tentacled menace slithering down the side of the ship and then back inside through an open port hole. The Kraken was now somewhere below deck. |
Night 5 - Map - Onward! |
---|
Captain Sinistral ordered the crew to raise the anchor and set a course to the northeast. The spirit of One-Eyed Jack Templeton was left behind as the ship sailed away from the haunted waters surrounding the Spire and off into the night.
|
Night 5 - Hello Beastie |
---|
Sparrowhawk stood at the front of the ship, looking out over the sea. Next to him were some boxes and crates with a cloth draped over them, possibly some leftover cargo from the cargo hold that was moved topside in the middle of the night. He appeared to be deep in thought, perhaps preparing another one of his lengthy posts. While still looking out at the sea, Sparrowhawk suddenly said... "Hello Beastie." The Kraken had been trying to sneak up behind him, but somehow Sparrowhawk heard it coming... or maybe he was waiting for this very moment. The Kraken surged forward, reaching for Sparrowhawk with its tentacles, but Sparrowhawk reacted quickly. He whirled around and tore off the cloth covering the boxes with one hand, and with the other hand he drew... a match? The removal of the cloth revealed... a loaded cannon hidden in between the boxes... aimed right at the Kraken! Sparrowhawk quickly lit the fuse and jumped back out of the Kraken's reach. BANG! The cannon fired and hit the Kraken squarely in the center of its squid like body, tentacles flailing about, causing the deck of the Sinistral's Fury to be doused in a shower of foul smelling green blood. The severely wounded Kraken slowly fell off the side of the ship and into the sea. Sparrowhawk cheered. "You shall remember this as the day you almost-" ... But Sparrowhawk was interrupted as he was suddenly pulled off his feet and dragged over the side of the ship. He failed to notice that one particularly long tentacle had wrapped itself around his ankle just as the cannon fired. Sparrowhawk plunged into the cold waters of the sea and was dragged down to the murky depths along with the body of the Kraken. Ichimaru had heard the sound of cannon fire and ran up the stairs onto the deck. "Are we being attacked by another ship?" he thought. His face was unusually pale and covered with sweat. He hadn't been feeling well all evening and a sea battle was the last thing he needed right now. He looked around and saw that a green ooze type substance was sprayed about everywhere. "What the heck happened here?" he thought. "I'd better go find someone and tell them about this, and then perhaps find the Doctor since I'm not feeling too well..." Ichimaru headed back down the stairs towards the crew cabins but his muscles failed him. Paralyzed by the poison, his legs wouldn't move and he fell headfirst down the stairs. Ichimaru fractured several bones and lay at the bottom of the stairs paralyzed for a few minutes before the poison finally made its way to his heart. |
Pirate Mafia 2 - Finale |
---|
As soon the sun began to come up on the horizon, Captain Sinistral was able to make out a small island in the distance, illuminated by the light of dawn. "Land ho, mateys!" he shouted. They had finally arrived at their destination. The ship sailed up near the shore of the tropical island and lay anchor. It was definitely an interesting voyage... but Captain Sinistral still was unsure of which faction he would share the treasure with... "It seems like such a shame to settle the outcome of this interesting voyage by means of a coin flip..." he thought. Sinistral went into his quarters for a minute and came back out with a small chest. "Einkil the 2nd! Grimtooth! The two of you will face off in a game of Pirate Dice to the death! The winner gets a share of the treasure, and the loser... well... you don't want to be the loser. Best 2 out of 3 rounds will determine the winner. Are you both ready? Are you familiar with the rules?" smiley-pirate.png Pirate Dice - Rules Each player will roll 5 dice and keep them hidden under their cup, that is, each player will only be able to see their own dice. Starting with the first player, they take turns calling out bets on the results. For example, the first player might start with a bid of "Three two's." This means that he is wagering that between the dice of both players there are at least three dice showing the number two. The second player must then either make a higher bet, or call the first player's bluff. To make a higher bet, a player must increase either the quantity of the bet ("Four two's instead of Three two's) or increase the value showing on the dice (A bet of Three three's instead of Three two's). The betting will alternate until one player accuses the other player of lying. The dice will be revealed from both players, and if the bet was true, the player who made the bet is the winner. If the bet turns out to be false, then the player who called the bluff is the winner. (after 2 rounds, Grim won both rounds) Er, sorry about that guys, I was hoping this would end earlier in the day since I wasn't going to be around tonight. I guess I should have explained the rules better... you must increase either the quantity and/or the face value of the dice for your bet... but that doesn't mean you can decrease the other value. So Einkil's second bet in this round is invalid, you can't bet four 4's in response to two 5's, you would have to bet either three or more 5's, or two or more 6's. There is a variant of the game which allows that kind of betting, but those aren't the rules we've been playing by. Sorry if that was unclear from my original explanation. It looks like grimtooth is the winner though, even with the invalid bet. |
Day 5 - END |

Captain Sinistral, grimtooth, and Einkil the 2nd got into a rowboat and headed ashore. The small tropical island was deserted, but Sinistral was certain there was buried treasure somewhere on this island for he had a map that marked its exact location. After hours of walking, they made it to the right spot and began to dig. They unearthed a large chest filled with precious gems and gold doubloons. Before they brought the treasure back to the ship, Einkil and grimtooth played a few rounds of Pirate Dice to determine which one of them would get a share of the treasure. Grimtooth, the Pirate Alchemist, defeated Einkil two rounds to none. "Einkil the 2nd! Normally we would kill the loser, but we've lost so many crew members already on this voyage..." said Sinistral. "Seeing as how you were only a Stowaway on the ship to begin with, you shall be left here marooned on this island. Best of luck to ye." Captain Sinistral and grimtooth loaded the chest onto the rowboat and left Einkil alone on the island with only a few bottles of rum and a few days worth of food. They returned to the ship, split the treasure, and drank many bottles of rum to honor all the fallen pirates, crew members, and Kraken who had made the voyage an interesting one. The Sinistral's Fury sailed off eastward to find a new crew and explore new seas. It is said that on some nights, if a ship passes close enough to the Spire, the voice of One-Eyed Jack Templeton can still be heard on the wind, calling out the name of his arch-nemesis, the Kraken. Legend also has it that the Kraken was not really killed, merely wounded badly enough to make it lay dormant on the bottom of the sea for another 50 years.. Arr! Congrats to the Pirates who are the winners of Pirate Mafia 2! Thanks for playing everyone! I particularly enjoyed all the avatars you guys came up with to keep with the pirate theme! smiley-pirate.png |
