House of Cards Mafia was a game designed and hosted by Glycereine based on original design.
It began on August 8th, 2010 and ended in a Goodie win in N3 (August 27th, 2010).
Game Mechanics
This was a classical Mafia with 4 Baddies, 8 Goodies and 1 Indy.
Rules
- Tie rules: First day tie - no lynch, any other tie - each person in the tie has a 50/50 chance of life or death
- Blocks can prevent RID kills while saves cannot.
Role Description
Goodies: Must defeat the Jacks
- King of Diamonds - Cannot be lynched (can block 1 vote per court)
- Queen of Hearts - Healer (can save 1 person per night)
- Ace of Spades - The King's main man - Kills for the goodies
- 10 of Clubs - Swift use of a cudgel - can block 1 card per night
- 7 of Diamonds - Lucky number 7 - Can RID and is told if their guess was right or wrong
- 7 of Spades - Can Spy but the results get messaged to the Ace of Spades not the 7. If the 7 of Spades Spies the ace, the results are reported to both the 7 and the Ace of Spades. (meaning the Ace knows the 7 spied him and the 7 learns who the ace is)
- 3 of Hearts - Can alter 1 vote per court
- 2 of Diamonds - Can RID Kill on Prime Nights (1,2,3,5,7). Can add to the night post on the other nights.
Baddies: Must defeat the goodies (group kill and BTSC)
- Jack of Clubs - Blocks 1 card each night.
- Jack of Spades - Can Spy 1 card per night
- Jack of Diamonds - can RID and is told if their guess is right or wrong
- Jack of Hearts - Healer (can save 1 person per night)
Independent: Must outlive Ace and Jack of Spades and King and Jack of Diamonds
- Joker - Has the dice rolled and his actions are decided: 1. Kill, 2. Spy, 3. Block, 4. Double Vote Count, 5. Self Save, 6. Choice of the above.

Day and Night Posts
Night 1 |
---|
The cards had been dealt and the players mulled over their hands.
The Jacks were up to no good.
The Joker laughed at it all wondering what would happen to them. He had his own ideas about the kidnapping of the princess but figured he’d make the most of the situation. He followed his target and was content with the information he gained this night. |
Day 1 |
---|
The King looked at the chaos that was ensuing. He didn't understand how they couldn't understand how the other cards couldn't just kill off a Jack and be done with it.
At first seahorse seemed to have no chance. Then slowly Framm gained speed as the new favorite to die. In the end Filly vaulted ahead of everyone, but a last minute rally by Hirkala left everything ambiguous. The king looked at Filly. He held his fist out with his thumb to the side, the Ace waiting to do his bidding. The king's hand slowly turned and his thumb pointed up, indicating that Filly would live. He then glared at Slick and put his hand out again. He lowered his thumb but at the last minute changed directions and again the thumb pointed up. The Ace sighed, wishing to get his hands dirty sooner rather than later. The King made a proclamation that the indecisiveness of the court would not be tolerated in the future. Another tie would mean each person would have a chance to die. |
Night 2 |
---|
The King, angered by the indecisiveness of the court, hoped to ease that anger by witnessing death this night. He would not be disappointed…
The Queen of Hearts, worried about all the death she was sure would ensue, decided to protect someone. She focused her efforts on saving Framm, protecting him from harm. The 10 and Jack of Clubs were thinking alike this night. They both sought to stop the actions of others. The 10 walked over to the deck of cards and cut it. He then beckoned to Hirkala to come over. Hirkala couldn’t see the source of the sound but approached anyways. Just as Hirkala was bending over the deck the 10 of Spades slammed the other half down on top of him. Although not permanently injured Hirkala spent the rest of the night working his way out from the deck of cards. The Jack had his sights set on Filly. He walked up behind Filly and smacked him with the broadside of his sword, knocking him out cold for the night. The Jack of Diamonds laughed to himself. He was armed and ready. He slowly approached Lionheart. Lionheart however wouldn’t have heard him coming. He was staring intently at a facedown card, trying to determine what lay underneath. The Jack of Diamonds took a running start and slammed into Lionheart, knocking him off the table. Lionheart was immediately trampled on and disappeared into a sea of poker themed tiles on the floor. The Jack of Spades was curious. Curious about a pesky card he might want to be rid of. He slowly approached his target watching their actions. Content with what he learned he reported back to the rest of the Jacks. Meanwhile the Joker was busy counting his blessings. Glycereine had rolled him a kill tonight and he wasn’t going to waste it. He picked a target and honed in. He came up to seahorse disguised as another card. Engaging in a conversation about the lynch, he slowly pulled out a paper cutter and went to town. Right in front of his eyes seahorse was slowly shredded. When the Joker was done there was nothing but a fine dust in the place where the card had once lay. He took a deep breath and blew, scattering the pieces of seahorse around the table. The Ace of Spades heard warnings about making sure not to kill recklessly. Well he wasn’t being reckless but he also wasn’t going to sit by idly. He approached Riranor/LJayden with a smile on his face and a fist of iron. He grabbed the card with his bare hands and ripped it in half. Riranor/LJayden fell to the table inert. |
Day 2 |
---|
All eyes were on SparrowHawk. Nothing he could do could divert the pressure. He tried to call out Slick, who had the most votes other than himself. Slick said nothing but his silence appeared to be defense enough.
Hirkala was shocked by SparrowHawk's admission... However, Hirkala was wrong.... |
Night 3 |
---|
The players were sweating at the table. How many Jacks were left? Which ones were they?
All would be answered in time, but it didn't ease the anticipation they all felt. The Marquace had Slick in her sites, but he wouldn't go down easily. You see the Sloker had rolled a 5 and was impervious to her destructive powers. The TenTruth considered blocking the Sloker but at the last minute changed her mind. King Molly had decided that the last remaining Nack was dangerous and TenTruth directed her efforts to stopping his actions. As TenTruth approached Jack Fleming she gasped in horror. The Nack was slowly feeding himself into a papershredder. His last act was to defy the court. He didn't realize however that he wasn't even targeted for being killed tonight... |
