|Size||14 Players (Medium)|
|Start Date||August 01, 2009|
|First to Die||Surge|
MOS-querade was a game designed and hosted by CherryLane based on host's idea to have mafia where even which player was which was secret.
It began on August 01, 2009 and ended in a Baddies win in D5 (August 11th).
Game Mechanics Edit
Each player will be assigned a new identity (account, username, password, …). You may only post in the game thread from this account. PLEASE be cognizant of what account you are signed in with when making posts. (The game thread can’t be set up to restrict who can post in it, so please be careful!) You may not post anywhere else in mOs from your Anonymafia player account (I think Sinistral has the new accounts set up to prevent this).
Please don’t reveal your player identity while playing the game (not even to claim a false player identity). Some players may be easily recognized if they do not modify their writing style, some players may choose to imitate other players’ writing styles, but do not claim to be a specific person. The goal of this game is not to figure out what player is using what Anonymafia name, but to be able to play a “blind” mafia game. So while you will probably be able to figure out who some people are, you shouldn’t be actively trying to do so.
These restrictions are separate from revealing your ROLE. While role-revealing is highly discouraged (there is a RID kill, remember), it is not expressly forbidden. Identity-revealing is forbidden.
When you confirm your assigned role, you will also be confirming you agree to abide by this gaming philosophy.
Other Standard Mafia Rules apply (such as no unauthorized BTSC, no PM repping, no revealing information after death, etc.) with clarifications noted below. (apologies to Bb for plagiarizing)
Guide to Mafia:(<-LINK) Please consult Unreality's guide for specifics about Mafia-type games.
The Day/Night: each last about 24 hours. During the day, everyone votes for someone to be lynched. Ends will be AT the hour. Example: If the Day ends at 2:00, 1:59 would still be ok, but at the tick of 2:00 the day would have ended.
The Night: It will be about 20 hours for receiving PMs, and we must have all PMs in by that time. The post will be written and go up w/ in the next 4hrs.
Addressing the Host: For any questions or comments or anything else that is addressed towards the host, please color the text in red so that it will be easier for me to identify. Thank you smile.gif
Tiebreaker: a new player randomly determined by me each day. If there is a lynching tie, and the Tiebreaker is on one of the tying sides, that side wins. Also, if there is a tie but the Tiebreaker is NOT on one of the tying sides, I will PM the Tiebreaker and he/she will choose the winning side. Use of the tiebreaker will be announced in the day post. The ghost may be a tiebreaker.
Block: Affects player’s action(s) for that night and the following day (if player has a day action). Will be shown in night post regardless of whether the affected player had an action.
Event Director: Cherry Lane, under advisement from the host-god unreality
Mafia – win if they are the last faction left alive. Know each other’s identities and can communicate secretly (BTSC forum). Can kill one player each night. Must designate a mafia member to conduct this kil, which counts as a visit to anyone watching.
- Don – leader of the mafia. Has final say if a tie in choosing who to kill
- Hitman – can beat someone up each night, rendering them senseless and nullifying that player’s actions for the night.
- Snake – adept at poisoning, but his drugs take a while to work, and aren’t always effective. If Snake’s nightly poison is accompanied by a successful RID, the poison will have an effect 2 nights later (at the beginning of the night). Does not get feedback on effectiveness of poison unless player dies or is saved on the next night.
- Godfather – aged mentor to the Don. Works to protect his protégé from the Anarchist. Any night, but not two in a row, can get faction of one player.
Anarchist – wins by outliving the leadership (Don, Mayor, Vice-Mayor)
- The Anarchist’s goal is to eliminate order and cause confusion. Wants to see all the leaders killed, but has no killing ability on his own. At night, can cause chaos by redirecting the target of any player. During the day, can change the vote of any one player (must PM name of voting player and name of new vote target – does not need to be the same as the Anarchist’s own vote). May sacrifice night action for double ability the next day (change two player’s votes), but may not give up day action for a double night action. Invincible first night and day.
Townies – win by eliminating the Mafia and the Anarchist.
- Mayor – can use his influence to stop one lynching.
- Vice-Mayor – the second in command holds the real power in the government. Votes count double.
- Vigilante – can kill a player at night, but cannot kill two nights in a row.
- Detective – investigates faction of chosen player each night.
- Vagabond – has no home of his own, so must find a new place to sleep each night (counts as a visit). This makes him difficult to find. Will only be found if sleeps in the house of the player looking for him. May chose to sleep in a random place, giving up information for total night invincibility.
- Street Sweeper – follows one player at night to learn who that player visits.
- Janitor – has acquired many skills over the years. Each night may submit an innocent RID (RIDed player may be alive or dead). If correct, janitor can use that ability for the night (does not affect RIDed player).
- Doctor – saves a player from any kill but poison. Cannot save self.
- Herbalist – can brew antidote to counteract poison, with varying effectiveness:
- If provides antidote on the night a player is poisoned, prevents the poison, regardless of whether the poison would have worked. Will show in night post.
- If provides antidote on the second night, save only shows if the player was actually poisoned.
- By the third night, the herbalist is too late and the antidote will have no effect. Will not show in night post.
- (Doctor and Herbalist gain BTSC if save same target or one saves the other.)

|MOS-Querade, an Anonymafia|
What will happen when everyone is in disguise?
Mosstown has an annual event: the MosQuerade. Unlike a masquerade ball, which lasts only for a few hours, the MosQuerade is a celebration that lasts all week. Participants agree to disguise their identities at all times while in public. Fun for everyone, it allows revelers to act in certain ways that may be contrary to their normal nature or perceived nature.
Unfortunately, the local branch of Mafia has decided it is also an excellent time to execute their domination plan. Their identities completely hidden, they can torture, maim, poison, and even kill on their way to their objective.
The Anarchist was passing through town when festivities started. He saw this as an excellent way to blend in, cause as much chaos as possible, and make a hasty exit, all without being detected. How will he fare?
And the residents of Mosstown had no idea all this plotting was taking place. The townfolk were just gearing up for a week-long party!
Let the MosQuerade begin!
14 players: 4 mafia, 1 indie, 9 innocents
|Night 1 – The mOs-Querade Begins|
On the first night of Mosquerade, all the participants gathered in their costumes: a Little Rascal, an aspiring chef, a Peanuts character, and an airline pilot. A car, a duffer, Don Henley, and half of a pair of star-crossed lovers (the other one decided not to participate this year, after a bit too much debauchery last time around). A commander from the Russian Navy, a lounge singer, and Guy Fawkes. A Muppet and a Smurf were there, too.
After the opening festivities, everyone headed home. Or not. Some had other activities planned.
Two people headed over to Echo’s house. The conversation went something like this:
Costumed Character #1: Who are you? What are you doing here?
Costumed Character #2: It is only the first night of Mosquerade; I don’t want to reveal my identity right away.
1: Oh, c’mon. What if I go first? I’m the doctor. I thought Echo might need some help tonight, but I must’ve been wrong.
2: I thought your voice was familiar! I’m the herbalist. I’m not sure why I’m here. Meanwhile, a third costumed character watched from the shadows, unnoticed.
The costumed mafia set off to enact the first part of their plan: to kill November. They searched and searched, but couldn’t find him anywhere.
|Day 1 – Rumorville|
On the first full day of Mosquerade, everyone gathered in the town square. Amid the merriment of the festival, there was an undercurrent of fear and suspicion. Someone was overheard saying, “I saw some menacing-looking revelers last night. One looked like he wanted to kill someone”.
Much like a game of telephone, the rumor was passed around. By midday it had turned into, “Did you hear? Six people died last night in a gang-related firestorm!” And later, “The Mafia is invading Mosstown. We have to DO something!”
How close is rumor to reality? The residents of Mosstown had no idea…
An informal town meeting was held in the afternoon. After much discussion, everyone was convinced there were not only Mafia afoot, but a rabble-rousing foreigner as well. Their only recourse: to revive the long-dead custom of daily lynchings. “We’ll eliminate the stink among us even if we all die trying” was the general philosophy.
So who to lynch on the first day? No one could remember having seen a person resembling Guy Fawkes before last night. Was he the foreigner trying to cause trouble? Where had he been the previous night? The aspiring chef and the Smurf were both under suspicion also. One for acting sly and the other for hiding all day.
In the end, the people chose the Smurf. The Smurf was bound and gagged, and dragged to the hastily-erected lynch platform. As the noose was tightened around the lynchee’s neck, his smurf mask came off. “Papa!” gasped a young girl. “Hey, wait!” cried another. “I know him, he cleans the streets!” But it was too late.
Where was the mayor, who could have stopped this madness?
|Night 2 – Wherefore Art Thou? (corrected version)|
Sorry, guys. Host slip-up number four (or is it five? I'm losing count here.). Substituting "kilo" for "mike" in the night post. It doesn't have any effect on the rest of the post.
A rather dejected crowd dispersed from the town square, after inadvertently lynching the beloved Papa.
The Anarchist was itching to cause some trouble. Things hadn’t been going his way since his arrival. He sauntered up to the young Capulet. “Hey, baby. Lost your Romeo? Why don’t you come stay at my house tonight? “ “Bugger off!” was the reply, accompanied by a hefty punch to the jaw. When the anarchist recovered by the surprisingly strong blow, the lovely Juliet was nowhere to be found. Try as he might, the Anarchist did not spot her for the rest of the night.
The Mafia, perturbed they missed their target the previous night, were set on doing some real damage tonight. Rather than put all of them at risk, the Hitman decided to fly solo for the evening. He spotted Juliet talking to a dashing young man, but focused on his first target. “Hey, Kilo!” he called to a passing reveler. “I know a great party happening tonight. Wanna join me?” “Ooh, I love parties. Last night’s was kinda lame, so I’m looking for some more excitement.” Kilo followed willingly. And partied. And partied. And forgot whatever it was he’d planned to do that night.
With Kilo safely occupied at the party, the Hitman went off in search of Juliet, his second target for the night. Oh, how he wished he’d offed that girl when he saw her earlier, because there was no longer any sign of her.
|Day 2 – Organizing Anarchy|
Things has not been going well for the Anarchist in Mosstown. The Mosqeurade had seemed like the perfect cover, yet he’d been discovered almost immediately. His costume had nearly slipped the first night, but he thought he’d recovered nicely, and was even starting to be trusted in town yesterday. What had happened in the intervening night? Where had everything gone wrong. Not only was he exposed, he’d failed to cause even the slightest disarray (aside from the initial confusion over his own identity). One last feeble attempt to help the town against their other foe, and the Anarchist resigned himself to death.
After the execution, the town rejoiced with a celebration of fireworks. Was this the second day of Mosquerade, or the Fifth of November?
Due to popular demand, future nights/days (beginning with the now-in-progress night three) will end at 9pm EDT. I hope this helps.
|Night 3 – Plane Crash|
Delta thought Mosquerade was a lot of fun this year. His airline pilot costume was genius. He’d made up all sorts of harrowing stories, and had embraced this persona. All the ladies (at least he thought they were ladies – who knew with all these costumes) drooled over him at the bar, and he was the life of the party, for once. Heading home from yet another evening of drunken debauchery, he stumbled. Over a foot. “A little tipsy tonight, are we?” said the Hitman. “Let me help you find your way home.” When they reached the sidewalk in fron of Delta, house, the Hitman suddenly heaved Delta up and tossed him through the front window. “I think he’s out cold for the night,” mumbled the Hitman, his night’s work complete.
The Vigilante was itching for action. All these rumors of the mafia afoot. No one was actually dead yet, but since the Anarchist rumors had been proved true that day, there must be Mafia about also. The Vigilante wasn’t going to let them take over his town. No, he’d get them first. Every last one. He slipped into the house of his first target and waited….
(*CRASH*) Glass shattered as a body came flying through the window. *BANG* The trigger-happy Vigilante fired off a shot in surprise. Delta was dead before he hit the floor. “Well, not the way I’d planned this night to go, but I’ll take it,” thought the Vigilante as he slipped back out of the house.
The Don had had enough. The Hitman had been unsuccessful in killing anyone the last two nights. Time to show him how things should be done. An expert tracker and profiler, the Don already knew where his victim was heading, and waited patiently. As the Tiger Woods look-alike rounded the corner, out stepped the Don, and placed his pistol against Tiger’s head. “Going somewhere?” he asked. “Just out for a stroll on this lovely evening,” replied Golf, his voice calm. “Hope you enjoyed it, buster, because it was your last,” snarled the Don as he pulled the trigger.
|Day 3 – Double Trouble|
The Mafia had finally struck. So those rumors were true. But had they been a bit sloppy in their execution? The sportscar-driving Rascal thought so. And said so. “That Peruvian is no farmer!” he proclaimed. “I saw him throw Delta through a window last night. He is part of the Mafia!”
“Are you sure?” asked some of the others. “How could you possibly have seen that? Weren’t you staying in last night?” “I’d bet my life on it! Though I’d really rather not if I don’t have to,” replied Alfa.
“Well, you look a bit green today,” observed Lima. “Maybe you were hallucinating.”
“I’m fine!” demanded Alfa. “And you’d best believe what I’m saying. I don’t want to say it again.”
But he wasn’t fine. By the time the lynch mob settled on Lima as their choice of the day, Alfa was dead.
|Night 4 – Taking out the Trash|
Bang! Bang! Bang! The grouch heard someone banging on his aluminum trashcan costume.
Oscar lifted the lid and peeked out. Bang! The Don shot him in the head.
At least cleanup was easy.
|Day 4 – LYNCH….(lynch)|
The small Toyota tried to maneuver through the town square, but was blocked by a throng of costume-clad citizens. The Alpinhornist rolled down his window. “Move out of the way, everyone! I need to get through.”
“You’re not going anywhere,” said a voice from the crowd. Suddenly, the car was surrounded. The car doors flew open, and Echo was dragged out of the car. “We’ve got ourselves another Mafioso!” And the crowd cheered.
|Night 5 - Down Periscope|
The Don had his prey in his sights, and followed him, stealthily. Before the submarine commander knew what had happened, the Don grabbed him from behind, knocked him over the head, and tossed him in the lake. “Dive! Dive! Dive!” thought the Don with a snicker.
|Day 5 – Roll the Dice|
Three candidates were proposed for the lynch. Two Mafia, one innocent. No one really knew anything about any of them. Each candidate accused the two others of being bad. None would admit to knowing either of the others.
The Vice-Mayor decided it was time to use his influence. And the vote started to swing against Hotel. But Mike was even more convincing against Charlie. At the end of the day, it was Charlie who was brought to justice. Sayonara, Snake!
Bravo should have been happy. But he felt too ill. Soon he, too, was dead.
Hotel. Juliet. Mike.
Mike would die at the hands of the Don overnight. Juliet and Hotel would battle it out the next day. But Juliet had the Snake's poison running through his veins, and would be too weak to fight any longer.

Thanks for playing in my first mafia game, and the first AnonyMafia! Although it ended with a near-tie (I’ll give the slight edge to the Mafia for having already poisoned the last remaining innocent), I’m pretty happy with how the game went, from a host perspective.
I’ll post actions and my own comments later.
For now, I welcome your comments as long as you don’t reveal what ID you were using. I know a lot of the players were accidentally revealed, but I’m curious if anyone can figure out exactly who was playing as who. So feel free to PM me your guesses, and I’ll post the results tomorrow.
Thanks again for playing. I hope this was as fun and exciting for you as it was for your hostess. I appreciate you going along with the AnonyMafia concept - I know it wasn’t easy.
