It's amazing the things that mankind creates. From rocket ships to nanobots, the accomplishments are absolutely stunning. Because of that, though, I find great humour in the fact that most times, nature usually does it better.
Fixing the human body? Nature does it better.
Drawing a spiral? Nature does it better.
Torture? Nature does it better.
I have found myself in many situations in the past ten years, but some of the harshest and most memorable are those I wish I could forget. I have been tortured in dozens of ways--frozen, burned, buried. I've been branded, cut, and partially scalped once. I've been restrained and beat more times than I can remember.
The worst pain of my life, though? Nature did it better when she decided that I should contract the stomach flu. it's not really influenza. It is really painful even without an ulcer (which I started growing last year all by myself). For five brutal days, I could barely focus. It was worst at night and sleep wasn't even a possibility the first few nights. Exhaustion prevents the immune system from acting at full capacity. Lower defenses allows for more illness beyond the stomach bug.
Nature, you dirty bitch. I hate you.
